I'm with you, @leelee17. I'm buying this as a show of support for more Alien steelbooks in this style. Whenever I think to myself, "I should watch this again. Maybe it wasn't that bad," then I suddenly remember the uncanny Ian Holm, and I'm right back out again.

That was actually not CGI, it was filmed by Ian Holm in 2019 about a year before he died.
Truth...

Oh my days.....
The movie was dead in the water for me way before that scene, then it landed... WAY beyond bad!! I'll never understand the love for this movie..
Plus, the fact that it's about a bunch of young people up against aliens clearly isn't a an accurate representation of today's youth as there's no mention of the affect it has on their 'mental health'...

Got a copy today from Atomic Movie Store and the front artwork is misaligned, so there’s a gap between the border and art on the left and the art overlaps the border on the right side. Naturally, it makes the artwork look off-center to the right.

I guess it’s not a big deal. But I don’t buy too many steelbooks anymore and when you shell out $40 it’s a bit annoying.

I have found comments on the ages of the Romulus cast interesting (not specifically here, just in general) as, for context; Cailee Spaeny was 27 (Sigourney Weaver was 29) and David Johnson and Spike Fearn were both 30 (Veronica Cartwright was also 30)...

Obviously the rest of the originals cast were noticeable older, but personally I didn't have an issue with ages of the Romulus crew - and I'm an old bugger :)

When I watched the film back a few months ago I was thinking 'this wasn't as bad as I remembered' and then I got to the end/once the two girls got back to the ship and I must have wiped from my memory what happened next because that's when it went to **** for me

People looked older back then too so I'm not surprised some might think the new actors are drastically younger.

I didn't really have an issue with the age of the actors but I do have an issue with the decisions around it, they keep trying to recreate Ripley without having the equivalent prime of her life Sigourney Weaver and a really strong cast and script to match. One of the biggest failings of Romulus was how hard it tried to lean on nostalgia, corporate trying to birth a new Ripley so they can pump out sequels is embarrassing. I look back at Aliens and I can remember most of the cast, Romulus struggled with two and that CGI abomination.

They should have removed that last act entirely.

Young people were made of stronger stuff in the 70's...
Today they'd be too focused on the effect it would have on their mental health issues... :naughty:

Best Alien film for 38 years. Not bad going tbf.
Theres some pretty dumb takes in here that I couldn’t work out if people are trying to be cool or genuinely so far up their ar$es with these awful takes that it’s comical. Film is up there with Alien and Aliens. Some just won’t like to admit that because it interferes with their precious films and that’s a hard pill for some to swallow so they act weird. I find the age thing hilarious too. These people are literally the same fukin ages as they were in the other films!

Loved it from start to finish, but the final act actually made the film for me. As for Cailee Spaeny, I think she's been amazing in everything I've seen her in so far - currently watching her in the latest season of Beef and she's incredible. But anyway... bring on Romulus 2!

Romulus was absolutely spot on. A much needed whallop in the face for what had become stagnant and stale in its development during Scotts last two additions to the series. Hey, I love Prometheus and That Other One too. No shade.
In fact. If not for the unfortunate TV series let down, I don't think there's been an objectively terrible installment in the Alien canon. Even Resurrection has it's great bits.
The Alien universe (not including the cross overs with Predator etc) has one of the highest quality output of any franchise if you ask me.

F the haters. Romulus was brilliant.

I think too many people love on hating these days. Heck, I'm as guilty as any.
I took my daughter. She was just old enough for a 15. I'll remember it forever. She absolutely adored it and still does. We went back a rewatched all of them.
Nothing to do with me. Her idea. It hooked her. That was what Romulus did for her interest. Says a lot about the film really.
She's been brought up on a wide range of genres and multi language films and to be honest, her at 15 (16 now) has better taste than most.

Wasn't really a fan of the Offspring and would've loved more sequences featuring the Xenomorph but its still a bloody good film imo and visually it looks incredible. Some of the external space shots (especially the station and the planet/icy ring belt) look amazing in 4K! I love the whole gritty industrial vibe of the start too

On the contrary, this forum at least there's people who love everything. Doesn't matter if it's a sh!t film or a sh!t steelbook. Either zero standards or just pure copium

And for the record before some tard comes along I'm most certainly not calling this steelbook sh!t as if I needed to explain that
