Genre: Science Fiction, Horror

Director: Fede Álvarez

Plot: A standalone story in the Alien universe, unconnected to the previous films.

Surely it's got to be recognised for those practical SFX. Maybe Make-Up and Costume as well.
Such a superb cinema experience. Built for a decent screen and audio setup.
My local is garbage, I made sure to travel to a much newer and better equipped cinema.
Half the poor experiences I've had in the last few years are down to aging movie theatres. A lot in the UK could do with some love.
I really hope so! Be great to see! Sci-fi & horror don't tend to get the recognition usually... so blending the two is going to be tough to get acclaim.

Anyway what's important is fans love it. It'd just be nice to see it recognised as worthy of some accolades imo; as it was no mean feat to produce something this good, with the landscape as it was for the Alien franchise. It's easily the best thing since Aliens for me.

Yes you have to give films like this the big screen bells & whistles for sure!

Be interesting to see how much each cost to make... I'm too lazy to look it up myself :p
Very glad there were no restrictions in China because they earned Alien Romulus an extra 95 million dollars so far

Here are some production costs for the Alien movies:

  • Alien (1979): $11 million

  • Aliens (1986): $18.5 million

  • Prometheus (2012): Over $130 million

  • Alien: Covenant (2017): $97 million

  • Alien: Romulus: $80 million

Cheers chaps

Not surprised to see Prometheus was the most expensive. Alien by far the cheapest and still my absolute favourite though. Just goes to show money isn't everything!

Had an absolute blast with this! As much as I enjoy Prometheus and Covenant, they don't feel like classic Alien, whereas this did. Really like the score too. The majority of the characters were pretty annoying however, bar Rain and Andy...
so pretty happy they were the only 2 to survive (kinda) lol

Hope we're not left waiting too long for the sequel, but also hoping they don't rush it, of course.

Oh, and...
that "offspring" alien at the end is possibly the creepiest thing to ever be in an Alien film imo.

Watched it again 2 nights ago. Just f**ing pure class of a film

Finally an excellent sequel/prequel after all these years, and 4 average movies (Prometheus, Covenant, and 2 AvPs), thoroughly enjoyable and tense, was actually afraid for the main character, wishing for the section door to be closed in time, and almost talking to the screen like in Scream "behind you!"
Didn't mind the last 15 minutes, because I love Alien Resurrection, only don't understand why major film production effects are worse than in 'deep fake' youtube videos, in regards to an older character being used.
I can't decide now which is this year's best picture - Romulus or Furiosa...

This best not affect Fede's sequel :bored:
I sure hope not, I'd rather have Alvarez do the Romulus sequel (he's currently in talks to direct it)
And I can only guess Ridley Scott is gonna do an Alien Covenant continuation or perhaps a new story all together??

On top of that we are gonna get an Alien Series, and an Alien Isolation sequel, that's a whole lot of Alien we can expect

Hope that's the case and Ridley doesn't put his foot down again. Would love a continuation of Covenant, but would love a continuation of Romulus even more!
