Battlefield 3
is the true successor to Battlefield 2. Beyond our signature multiplayer, we have also included a full single-player campaign and a co-op campaign – all straight out of the box. As for fan favorite features, how does the return of jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer (on PC) sound? All this built with our powerful new game engine Frostbite 2, which you'll hear and see a lot of in the months leading up to launch.

Battlefield 3 will release this Fall.

The new GameInformer issue is out and folks have already provided scans of the article, which include plenty of great-looking screenshots. Furthermore, these details were obtained from the article:

Aiming for Fall 2011 release

4 classes

Concept for BF3 has been in the works for years, waiting on proper tech to seamlessly come together

Frostbite 2.0 is the culmination of this tech, entirely re-written

Lighting sounds neat, one “probe” contains more lighting information than an entire BFBC2 level.

Level destruction is going to be “believable” but basically everything is destructible.

Character animations powered by ANT, what EA Sports uses.

AI characters and multiplayer characters have different animation sets

No more “gliding” animations that look off, animation realism is a focus

Captured their own war audios (bullets, tanks, helicopters, etc) at different distances to ensure realism

Better audio cues for certain actions, more easily able to listen for threats

Plan on better, more immediate post release content

More unlocks than Bad Company 2

Dice trying to find a good balance between customization of your character and not having “pink rabbit hat(s)”

Will have co-op

There will be a kill-cam but it can be turned off

BF3′s team is almost twice as big as the team for BFBC2

They want the pacing of the single player mode to be balanced, with highs and lows. Makes the comparison to a song vs a guitar solo.

Part of the single player mode takes place in Sulaymaniyah (Iraqi Kurdistan).

Will be M rated

PC version is lead version

No mod tools at release.

Nah, you just gotta learn your ways through it ;) And of course check the rail cars every few. There are areas that are higher up than just the bottom floor. If you rush through there like a race, yeah, you'll get killed.

I know one things for sure, I cant wait to not play any damn rush mode!

I honestly couldnt imagine playing this with 54 people in one room, sounds boring always dying.

Dude, I just got good at this game! w00t! And its the first day I played as my psn heh. ;)

I figured it out ... dont rush even tho its called RUSH lol. Also, be a ***** when it comes to laying down. That **** is your best friend! Move up ... lay down ... hold position, get kills ... repeat!

Wtf rush up and fight man! No harm to die :)

ha, I think you were just posting non-sense to hit 30 posts. As if you rush in this (at least the beta map) you're just gonna die. So if you like going 2-20 then sure rush up and die. :p

Frozebite engine @ BF2 roxx ... you think you are in the game. The resoultion is awesome.

Iam playing bf since the first game was released on playstation 2 and it is the better game.

BF is the best realistic war game ... and cod a kiddy shooter with auto aim :scat:

Cause you spent a lot on beer?

lol yah. the wife got on me about spending, haha. that and since the ps3 died, shes gonna be real upset when i fork over $250 for a new one. right now i borrowed deleeuw's ps3 since he doesnt really use it.

so im gonna try and lay low with video game spending. i might be able to sneak in getting either bf3 or mw3 if i can find a cheap ps3 somewhere

oh, goodguy or biz cant remember which said that now sony will give you a ps3 slim for only $100 if you turn in your dead ps3 and allow that. ie. you got a fatty, but dont mind getting a slim back. FYI

Top 10 Issues

1. Squad issues: Cannot play with friends within same squad, squads get split up onto opposite teams, etc.
There will be improved squad functionality in the retail game (including but not limited to): the ability to create squads prior to launching into a game, sticking with your squad when joining a game and continuing together through future games (If team balance on the server allows it), inviting friends to a squad and changing squads once in game.

2. Regarding additional Open Beta content and fixes/patches for consoles, including PlayStation 3 issues with chat and party systems
While we would like to patch the Open Beta, DICE is currently focusing its available resources on polishing the retail game.

3. Will DICE have enough time to iron out everything by release?
Please see General Manager Karl Magnus Troedsson's blog post regarding this question.

4. Can we have ability to change settings/options before deployment into match on PC?
The ability to modify your settings via the deploy screen has been added into the retail game.

5. Issues with terrain stability and “falling into the map” on Operation Métro
This has been fixed for the beta via a server side update.

6. Kill cam sometimes zooms out too far or outside the map
This has been fixed for the launch of the retail game.

7. A bug that sometimes keeps some players from being able to sprint
This has been fixed for the launch of the retail game.

8. Screen flickering/stuttering. Blue screen remains after respawn. Game locks up after deploying C4 (360)
This has been fixed for the launch of the retail game.

9. Downed bodies appear to be dead, but are not
The DICE team has been looking into this issue – which is caused by a combination of incidents in a confined area - and are working hard to address the issue for the launch of the retail game.

10. Why is the hit detection seemingly different from Battlefield: Bad Company 2?
The netcode is one of the many things that we are testing as part of the Open Beta and is not necessarily reflective of the final retail game. The DICE team appreciates and has heard the feedback you’ve provided and is further optimizing online play.
