Wait, I have another idea.

What if Zavvi released a Zbox with a random steelbook part in it? Make it a blind box, and some of the boxes have the back plate, some have the front, some have the spine/inner case. You'd have to get multiple zboxs in order to build your steelbook.

Then of course, you destroy half of the front plates before hand, so that people keep buying the boxes over and over trying to get the full set.
:LOL::rofl::LOL:
Don't give them ideas they might do it

Look what happened with Dredd Steelbook

First was only available with a Zbox and later that same day went live on its own but was then listed as sold out in 1 hour

Did a lot customers buy the Cop Zbox/Dredd combo
I doubt very much they did
(Cop Zbox/Dredd combo Steelbook
Note its not Sold out its still available
)
What we expected to see was at some stage the Steelbook come back on its own on Zavvi website but instead it was made available to purchase on its own on the Hut Website and was available for over a month and at a cheaper price
I wonder what % of orders for the Dredd Steelbook was from the Hut Website

I repeat the best solution for Zavvi if they want to create sales for the Zbox is to offer a big discount if your order both as separate items in a order but with payment only taken for each item when ready to be despatched and not take payment for both at the same time

At the same time allow customers to order the Steelbook on its own

If Iron Man Steelbook was not part of a Zbox package and went live for example tomorrow all stock of the steelbook would sell out for real the same day

It's now Wednesday and after 5 days it's not sold out the mystery Steelbook/Combo

If the print run is the minimum 2,000 for a single Steelbook that's not getting a release in other countries they will not sell 2,000 Zbox/Iron Man Steelbook

So instead of selling out all Iron Man Steelbook mega fast they will be left with a package that will struggle to sell

Don't be surprised if Iron Man Steelbook appears on the Hut Website at some stage

Haha it will delight me if this steel ever appears anywhere else, but it will seriously upset a lot of people on Twitter who have all asked Zavvi if this will ever be available outside the zBox and the answer was no. lol!

If it doesn't sell out then it most definately will become available, but on The Hut ;);)

They must be confident of the Zbox bundle selling out!

The problem is people feel like they're entitled to everything and the world will bend to their will. Sometimes something comes along that due to circumstances you just can't get and you have to accept that or bite the bullet. I want the new BMW but can't afford it. No amount of complaining on mass will bring the cost of the car down because people will buy it at the current price and under the current conditions. Just like the steelbook.

The allure of owning an IM Steelbook for me is long gone, whether Zavvi, Play, FS, BF or Kimchi. IM is everywhere. Now becoming one of the most common Steels available.

If other collectors want to pay high prices for any one of those versions, then good luck to them. I'm reluctant to even pay cost price for any IM anymore.

As long as the 'Iron Man' is not green....

well what if he was????:rofl::rofl::rofl:

where zavvi have got this vastly wrong with the z box is there trying to promote a product where the stuff inside 9 times out of ten has NOTHING to do with the steel there linking it too and they also have the cheek to say some are worth alot more than price you pay for them, yet to be seen as well.

you only have to look at you tube reviews of them and i think everyone i have seen has basically ended up with all the purchasers saying rubbish and not worth the money.

its like a manager some where up the zavvi tree has sat down come up with how can we push more of the products we are not selling and came up with the answer i know we will create a box and call it a zbox and stick stuff in it we are not selling.
rather than said manager turning round and say we are not selling x,y,z.
well lets stop selling it at all its a wrong product for our consumers and create some warehouse space for other new lines, its like they don't know what diversification is and just keep trying the same bad idea and don't know how to become fresh and innovative anymore.
It must be costing zavvi thousands in the long run but i bet that manager does not want to admit just maybe they got it wrong or maybe he/she is just too far into it without losing there job maybe?

did zavvi ever bother to ask what sort of z-box would be wanted for one month from consumers and try down that road, doesn't require much thought!

any way said my bit you would like to think zavvi would have a read of this whole board and ask why its going so wrong, the answers are in it all!
if they just for once listened and actually bothered asking some questions for once from what there customers would like.

also the z box may stand a chance if they bothered to list what was in it each month before you buy it, rather than crossing fingers and lets see what tat comes along.
you wouldn't buy anything else in that way, not if it was always considered poor value!
I know i would not.

but anyway put my views down for what they are worth

basil

Well if they listed what was in it then it wouldn't be a mystery box. People like mystery. It's the same as gambling. The rush of getting something better than you put it is incredible for some folks.

Do you have to but a Zbox with a new BMW?

If you went into a shop to buy a pint of milk, but the shop said in order to get the milk you had to buy a packet of cigarettes, would you be happy?

If the steelbook was actually in the box I could understand more, but you probably won't get the steelbook for months.

If I could only buy milk if I bought fags too then I'd exercise my right as a consumer to take my business elsewhere. I may disagree with their choice but as the retailer they're perfectly entitled to set their terms. If I really, really wanted the milk and it was not available anywhere else as a single item then I'd decide whether or not I'm willing to buy the fags just to get the milk. I decide if I value the milk enough to justify taking on the cost of the fags just to get the milk. Perhaps I can sell the fags to a mate to recover some of the cost so the hit isn't quite as bad lol.

Whilst everything you've said in this thread technically makes sense, you seem to be saying we don't have any reason to complain - which frankly is ridiculous. Anyone can see this Iron Man with zbox deal is an outrageous, great big rip off - so I don't see what the harm is in saying so in forum designed to express those very opinions.

If a lot of people are complaining constantly about the same company it's because that same company keeps on screwing us over.

Also, you probably don't hear much of "He was my f a g at Eton" in the US :D Probably not in the UK nowadays, either.

Its a glass half full/half empty for me.

I like the concept, but more as a surprise. As in non-advertised a person gets one and Walah! There's also a SteelBook inside. And I think if it had started with a title not so popular at least in the rabid collecting world then it'd be cool. Then the next step would be putting in a good title which then would make me go "Whoa, they'll start having SteelBooks in here occasionally ... maybe I should just sign up" But the flip side is people would also give them hell saying "That's the only way they can move X title". Most UK retailers besides Amazon have come and gone in regards to selling SteelBooks. Zavvi is still here and they also put out some niche title steelbooks that no where else in the world are doing. I commend that, cause these days its everyone just jumping on Globals.

But I think when starting with Dredd (which is a very iconic popular character in the UK) and then a Marvel title it can sting more for those who have had no interest prior in the Zbox.

But ... how do you get more to have interest? Well, not that bad then ... we're talking about it aren't we? Ok, well played.

And of course those who are fans of the Zbox already probably love that now it's coming with a SteelBook.

I guess to each their own ... get it now or possibly pay more later ...or take the gamble that some go on the store or ebay for lesser price.

Perhaps next its 2k for separate and 2k with embossing in the Zbox.

Do we know how many Zavvi did for the Avengers lenticular? At least then we might get an idea of many Iron Man's they may have done and we might be able to guess whether they've done that amount of Zboxes?
