Certainly in no rush to buy this at full price as with much from David Cronenberg it's probably an acquired taste and is unlikely to sell out at full price IMO.

Same goes for all those hefty boxsets (all prices from Amazon because of their more suitable packaging) as who would wish to receive these in anything other than sturdy thick cardboard boxes ?
'Videodrome' (GBP 25), 'Long Good Friday + Mona Lisa' (GBP 40.57), 'Black Cats' (GBP 32.50) and 'Hellraiser 1-3 boxset' (GBP 50.50) etc. which though all very nice indeed look like they would take up an awful lot of shelf space. Then again, if the prices were right, which they aren't right now, for me anyway, who knows.
Maybe if they were limited to 1,000 instead of 3,000 I'd be in there at the current price for 'Black Cats' at least. On second thought, no - still too expensive :(
Then again I bought the chunky 'Battle Royale' Digipack boxset in 2010 and that was a 'Limited' edition of thousands and thousands.

Great fan of standard Arrow stuff and I buy all of their stand-alone clear Amarays sooner or later as well as their mini digipack boxsets such as 'Nekromantik', 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2', 'Society', 'Koyaanisqatsi + Powaqqatsi', 'Stray Cat Rock Collection' etc.

Regarding this October's Arrow release of a 4K transfer of 'Deep Red ('Profondo Rosso') anyone know if this is the real deal and if other titles will follow in matching packaging ?

Videodrome is selling vey well I would advise putting an order in

Info from Arrow Video

Only available from retailers who still have stock
New stock Arrow Video cant provide shops with titles below
Six Gothic Tales boxset is now officially out of print

http://arrowvideodeck.blogspot.ie/2013/06/out-of-print-what-and-why_25.html

Naked Lunch though is not a Arrow Video release but from Studiocanal
It will sell but yes I expect it will take a while to sell out and most likely might see a price drop
I expect this like most of the recent StudioCanal release to be a gloss finish

Extras
I'm looking forward to seeing what will be on the disc as this will be the first time its getting a Blu-ray release in the UK
As this is a first time UK Blu-ray release its bit early to judge sales

Thank you @paulboland for that interesting Video Deck page - it is most informative.
I couldn't bring myself to buy the Vincent Price boxset as I already had two of the titles contained therein and now have the others and that's plenty good enough for me.

Apologies for my post above with all that Arrow stuff as for some reason I'd thought 'Naked Lunch' was an Arrow release steelbook

All Arrow boxsets are worth their price - its just you, like myself and most others, enjoy a bargain.

That said I do tend to buy Arrow boxsets asap (I own Stray cat rock, Long Good Friday and Society with Videodrome on the way)

Back to Naked Lunch though, I wonder if it will be like the They Live steelbook, decent extras, glossy and a price drop not long after release (After I pre-ordered it at full price)

I get you, I really do, and I do think these boxsets are absolutely gorgeous quality items and that's just the boxes :)

I can't say they are bargains though and I do have price points for all of them in my mind, as I do for regular blus, and none of them are near yet. . .The closest is definitely 'Videodrome' at the time of writing.

Personally I buy steelbooks/Amarays/digipacks etc. for the films not for the books included in the large boxsets and that's why I'm reluctant to pay over 40 quid for two re-mastered films - 'Mona Lisa' and 'The Long Good Friday' - for example when I'm pretty sure I'll be able to pick them up in an Arrow sale separately for about 8 quid each at some point although at the time of writing the only way to get a re-mastered 'TLGF' is in a steelbook apart from inthe boxset of course.

I do do what you do however with the digipack mini boxsets and jump on them as soon as I see them - my only proviso being that they are priced at between GBP 15 and 25 which luckily for me they are.

With a 3,000 print run on 'Naked Lunch' together with it being a 'difficult' film I'd hazard a guess and say that this pre-order price will look expensive in a couple of months.
