A spokesperson for the actor released this statement today:
“Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject.”

I guess this makes sense. He has been semi-retired for a bit anyway. An absolutely amazing actor, but adds to my opinion that Gary Oldman is the best because of his seemingly never-ending drive.

Gary Oldman is god. Period.:D
(Day-Lewis is O.K. - but he is why people make fun of "method" acting. And I thought his transparent impression of Robert De Niro for Bill The Butcher in Gangs of New York was borderline embarrassing).
God speed, man. No more drinking my milkshake.
