Scream 7 tries to keep the meta horror spirit alive, but this installment feels more like a contractual obligation than a clever reinvention. What once made the franchise sharp, its ability to mock and dissect horror tropes while still delivering genuine thrills has become dull and conventional. Character arcs felr rushed or awkwardly redirected compared to the tight construction that defined earlier entries. The twist alluded to in the trailer was disappointing. While not entirely devoid of entertainment value, it’s likely the weakest entry in the series. I recommend waiting and catching it on streaming.
