Wonder how Netflix's acquisition of Warner Bros might impact Manta moving forward considering a good 60% of their releases are WB titles...

It will probably disrupt things initially, i.e with release sign-off and licencing new titles. It always does with mergers/buy-outs like this, as there's often new people/processes to incorporate. Assuming the distribution arm remains in place though (which I expect it will, as Netflix doesn't have one), I don't really see that it'll make a long term impact to be honest with you.

Manta lab are the regional distributor for all WB home media in HK. WB don't have any other presence in the region Anymore. So unless Netflix opt to cease HK disc distribution full stop, or switch distribution partner (both of which I see as unlikely due to Manta's profitability), I would expect things to carry on much the same in terms of the ME line from the buyer's perspective.

Manta's niche steelbook sales are absolutely meaningless and negligble in the overall picture at what's going on with the merger. It's not even loose coins found in between the couch cushions. Whatever they decide to do with their physical media production, the word "Manta" won't ever be mentioned in any boardroom meetings.

You misunderstand the situation, and what I was talking about. Manta's ME line continuing isn't really the question here, it's whether they remain as the exclusive distribution partner for WB within HK. That is distribution of all physical home media, not just the premium packages sold via collectong. I agree the steelbook line is a drop in the ocean, but the loss of all physical media revenue for an entire region like HK, that will most definitely be a discussion point.

Netflix shouldn’t be allowed to buy a 100 years worth of cinema to store in their catalogue. Madness. Should be laws against it. RIP WB

Manta will just become paramount heavy now. I think they have one of the worst catalogues of big player studios personally. Downer. At least they can get a good 2 years out of releasing the transformers and mission impossible franchises lol

I'd be embarrassingly into a matching set of the MI movies from Manta. :) But what I really want is for them to secure Universal rights, so they can continue the Nolan releases.

This might be the last Superman 2025 Warner Bros. movie manta lab steelbook. but maybe I'm not sure about classic movies~!!!
I wonder if they'll only release classic movies....!!!!

No guarantee the deal will go through, strong opposition to it, especially with anti trust laws.
They might have to bend over and sign a deal to ensure cinematic releases still happen and whatever else.
And that’s if they can come to an agreement.
Paramount could still come in and take WB, not over yet.

'Strong opposition' denoting the corrupt ties Paramount has with the constantly illegal meddling of the orange bozo in the Dumb House. If that's the case there will be lawsuits galore from here until next Christmas.

Yeah I’ve been keeping up to date with it all, have to see how it all plays out. I do not want to see The Batman Part 2 & 3 as Netflix originals. Hopefully an actual studio like Paramount can swoop in. Not that I want them to own WB but it’s a better option than Netflix

I prefer Netflix buy them out over Paramount, but that is purely for political reasons as I don't like the people who own Paramount and how they are trying to control the narrative in American media. I think that is more important than this whole movie collecting thing we do. One positive thing is that Netflix could merge HBO Max with Netflix, which would lower subscription costs and have one streamer with the best content.

Obviously there's the preservation of the cinematic experience to consider... But, as mentioned above, if Netflix own all the WB content... you can pretty much kiss goodbye to owning physical copies of WB movies :dunno:

I'd been hoping that Amazon would buy WB. Prime would become a real rival to Netflix and Disney. Also Amazon obviously understand the value of physical products.
