Snyder’s Superman and BvS were released when comicbook movies were at their peak, whereas James Gunn’s Superman released during comicbook movie fatigue and after a huge failure called the DCEU, where fans completely lost trust in that universe. And yet it still made good money and delivered a decent Superman movie.
General audiences didn’t really connect with Snyder’s dark approach or his overall lackluster directing. Zack Snyder had good moments in his movies, but let’s not pretend he’s some great director, he never was. Yes, there’s a minority of very vocal fans (Snydertards), but overall his movies aren’t that enjoyable and often lack soul. His recent films only prove my point.
Yup I understand all that and realise it's not fair to compare the two given the differences in circumstances but reality doesn't care about fairness, Man of steel outperformed Gunn's Superman financially. Put another way, I think Snyder could afford to make a Superman film with some massive flaws while Gunn couldn't afford to make a mediocre Superman film to launch his vision for the DCU.

You don't need to convince me about Snyder's failings, I wouldn't trust him left to his own devices at all (Rebel Moon anyone?) but I feel the same way about Gunn too, he has real strengths but not for Superman, the best thing he could do would be to step away from that character, let someone better suited to the task take care of it but his ego won't allow it, which is why we're getting GOTG Supergirl next. No matter how bad it is I'm still in for the Manta Supergirl OC though. ;)

I mean Zack Snyder did the same thing with Batman v Superman, where you had Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Doomsday, Martha Kent, Lois Lane, let alone cameos of Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg.. at least James Gunn never really failed with his movies.

B, I don't like the back on B but the front on A is horrible in hand. The gigantic nose he has in one of the flips, wtf is that about.
