I swear they're just repacking all the ones that got returned first and second time around. There'll be a rerelease next year with this year's returns

Funny to see how prices went up for this one after ppl found out it's LOTR. And again extremely limited etc. etc... yet there are 500 OC'S ... not to mention DL...
But i do believe BF will top HDZ steels. If only they'd release motherbox on top of it then i'd sell HDZ release instantly.

Managed to preorder one for a friend, guess he was right to ask me to secure it today...

Yep. GBs next month. Tentative July-August release.

Ooooh!

After HDZeta and UHDClub, and various studio editions, I wonder what else can be done...

I wonder too, and I hope it's not enough to make me want to buy another 3 OCs lol I'm betting the steels will have theatrical poster art on (same as HDZ SL). God knows what they'll use for the slips, and that's what I'm interested to see. Hopefully the DLs are great (or it's all sh!t), so I don't need to split OCs.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy reprint set and The Hobbit trilogy reprint set have had their dates moved UP one month.

It now releases on February 24th 2025.

For anyone who hasn't already got these or may want them.

I know it's technically an older release so apologies for the bump and tickle up the threads.

Amazon UK/Zavvi/HMV websites still list the release date as March 24

The update emails from HMV are not always accurate

Just passing along all the info as it happens @paulboland
It's good for everyone to know either way, just in case a large amount of money is debited from their accounts a month early.
You just never know.

Email only arrived a couple of hours ago

Maybe I'm a special case and get mine earlier

Old Steelbook bump.

For us late adopters, yesterday HMV took payment for these old re-re-re-releases of The Hobbit & LoTR Trilogies.
Expect shipping today/tomorrow for delivery weekend or Monday.

Are these difficult to source at the minute? I see they're available in most places but I never opened up my set from the first print as I think I got them around the time of a move so they went into a box and I sold them recently. The guy that bought them from me said he had multiple orders cancelled on him of this latest run and I have also seen a lot of hesitation from some regarding damage from poor packaging.

Poor delivery packaging is always an issue. The outer case is quite soft and prone to dents. That's the big worry I have with these. A lot of collectors would want a clean case and picking up from the after market where the seller is more likely to take care with wrapping and packing is quite enticing I guess. I get it.
I'm not sure these are difficult to pick up as the latest sets are still available for order. There has been a number of re releases over the years and this one - Feb 24th 2025 - is the latest.
I'm confident that if there's damage that I will still be able to get a replacement. Fingers crossed that won't be necessary.
The only reason I waited on purchasing these since the original release in 2020 was the egregious price hikes that the second hand market placed on the sets. They fluctuate quite a lot. As I own the trilogies on Blu Ray and 4K anyway, the steels have never been a priority for me. I was tempted by HDZ and BF sets but never pulled the trigger.
I waited for another re stock when I had the excess cash and used the HMV code for a decent chunk off. Taking the risk on delivery damage would be the minor waver and downside here.

Hopefully HMV won't feck it up.
