I wish Fry's Electronic does an exclusive steelbook release. They're blu-ray selection blows away BestBuy inventory. Once BestBuy goes out of business, then I hope Fry's start releasing steelbook.

Anyone know the Fry's brothers?

I too would love to see Fry's start selling steelbooks. Their blu-ray inventory is pretty vast compared to other retailers and I like their setup a lot more.

Fry's has a vast BD section! I hate going there though, not enough stores and employees can be just as big idiots as Best Buy's. The commission thing brings out a whole another set of stupid. I can't count how many times I've went to get stuff and argued with someone over something I was looking for and they just felt I was wrong. Needless to say they don't help you if you aren't bringing them money.

We don't have Fry's here down south, just FYE. They have had a couple exclusive steelbooks. They did Inception with a glossy cover (vs the ladder bestbuy release with no interior art and not glossy).

Hey lgans, as has been mentioned a few times, projects like those are worked on behind the scenes all the time. However, this thread is about retailers. When there is one available, you all will be the first to know:)

Definitely Amazon UK should get most of the exclusives so everyone has a chance of buying since they ship to most parts of the world and the excellent service they have but then again I speak purely with my experience with them.

We need more steelbooks on the UK High Street... unfortunately we only really have HMV at the moment and they're in administration still.

I hope that Asda or Sainsbury's get involved at some point (particularly if Asda are serious about buying out HMV). Both usually have decent Blu-ray sections in larger stores, and both have had exclusive slip covers at some point. Both also sell steelbook's on their websites.

Probably just wishful thinking though!

I can think of two besides Supermarkets...How about, CEX and WH Smiths ramping up?

You having a laugh :hilarious:

I think there was mention of WHSmith being in financial difficulties not so long ago and as for CEX EEK!

As Nyvo said it should be the bigger supermarkets, Sainsbury, Tesco, Asda as they have the finances to do a decent job also (wishing out loud) they would have them on the shelves to browse.

No, seriously...WH Smiths has picked up the street sales of HMV and expanding their physical media sales floor space.

CEX - Why not? They already have a national presence on the High Street and an online shop already in place. A new dedicated Steelbook section would be an idea

Surely CEX wouldn't work because they are a second hand goods shop?

That would be like letting cash converters have an exclusive steelbook!?:hilarious:

In theory CEX would be ideal. They have the infrastructure in place to sell both on the high street and online, and with a few tweaks their inventory/stock check could be awesome. But it would be a complete departure from their current business model and I'm not sure they care too much about dealing with distributors directly since their problems with Nintendo.

Supermarkets and CEX aside. Forbidden Planet should get involved.

Forbidden planet would be ideal as they specialise in limited items

IMO CEX would be terrible. how a company make a living from selling items that are mostly in a bad condition

CEX :shoot:
