Voting ends 1/16/2012

***Nominations now complete (there's a 25 max choices limit in the poll***

Thank you all for suggesting Steelbooks for the voting list for 2011!

Hi Everyone,

Urbeen's comment in the Lion King thread gave me the idea to start our own yearly voting poll at hidefninja.com. We've had 'Favorite Steelbooks of xxxx year', but hopefully this annual thread will give everyone a chance to jump in on all Steels released, in any given year, and pick their 'Best of the Best'.

I'll add some "hot" choices that have been mentioned this year to get us started, and keep any slots, for which we don't have titles yet, 'open'.

1) Chime in with your 'nominations'-I'll add them if they get multiple nods-25 slots for nominations are available.

2) You can then vote for multiple Movie Steelbooks-(See Video Game Steelbook area for VG poll)

3) In submitting nominations, please choose your 'overall favorites' of any Movie Steelbook released(regardless of size, paint finish, etc etc) in 2011.

4) You can check results anytime, buy looking at 'poll results'; final results posted before the end of the year.

5) Feel free to use our 'Upcoming Steelbook Releases' thread for a 'recap'

6) Voting will continue through 1/15/2012 to allow any Steelbooks released by 12/31/2011 to arrive, and be considered.

Have fun! :scat:

I know it wasn't released in 2011, but Resident Evil Trilogy Kor was at the end of dec. I got mine delivered on Dec 30th and that was pre-ordered. Is that close enough to count in this poll? Please!!! :D

Haha, Chip-for this we're looking for an actual release date in 2011,but congrats on the 'new arrivals':)

i like the fye (not sure which other countries as well) Harry Potter Deathly Halllows with him over dumbledores grave holding the elder wand

Inglourious Basterds SteelBook 2nd edition Canada is what I like the most.
Apocalypse Now is another one.

The Mechanic FS CAN is up there as one of my favorites. Also The Matrix and Batman Begins FS CAN ones are really nice artwork.

Thor UK will probably be my #1 when it arrives, haven't got it in hand yet.

Well, if I'm to make a decision on the Best of the year I'd have to take all things into consideration: Anything that doesn't meet these criteria would be automatically out in my opinion.

- G2 (G1 isn't even Blu-ray standard so how could a DVD sized Steel even be considered for best of the year?)
- Steel quality (embossing/debossing & special ink gets bonus in my book)
- Quality of Movie
- Bonus content & languages offered.
- No double printing on spine (Canada likes to print title twice, Eng & FR)
- Inside printing

Apocalypse Now (Italy) is a clear run away to me once you factor all these things in. Only knock on it is the lack of back artwork but the Embossed/Debossed cover & artwork selection is top notch & more than makes up for it. The Blu-ray transfer is superb with tons of extras & is offered in a plethora of languages. I must add that it's an all time classic film.

My favorites this year:

Tangled (Mexico, G1)
Green Hornet (Everywhere)
Sucker Punch (Ger)

These may not count, but for videogames:

FEAR 3 (European)
Killzone 3
Marvel vs. Capcom 3

These aren't really final. There are some pretty nice ones coming out later.

Hey Seven-I definitely hear you on the G1's-I've made no secret about my own personal preference for G2's for similar reasons. However, as there were still G1's released in 2011 and some were very popular, the poll would not be comprehensive, and allow the entire 'Steelbook' collector community to express itself for '11 , if they were not included.

But, the 'Apocalypse Now' is gorgeous, for sure-the black/gold is hot, imo, and also one of my favorites.

Keep the nominations coming-the more repeat mentions Steelies get,the better of a chance, that they are included in the 15 voting choices.
