Deeply saddened not to see Shame amongst the nominees! And TinTin. And Drive!! ... really not happy with their selection. The Artist is great, but others are merely good, nothing extraordinary about them.

I kind of expected it, but I'm really bummed Drive isn't there. It really isn't "Academy Awards Material", but still... for me it's the best movie I've seen in 2011.

I am not really expecting any surprises at these Oscars, the good ol' Hollywood favorites will win them for sure.

I did the amc Oscar marathon yesterday. We saw:

The help
midnight in Paris
Extremely close and incredibly loud
The artist

Hugo and the artist were my favorites, but I think my favorite of the nine nominees is still Moneyball.

I was also went in knowing nothing about midnight in Paris, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I really liked it.

The Artist will win but this is one of the weakest years for movies in awhile. I haven't seen some of the movies on the best picture list yet but I am not excited about any of them.

My favorite movies of 2011 so far would be Drive, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

I saw all Best Pic nominees except Descendents, because I was sick. I enjoyed all films for very different reasons, but I think 'Artist', 'The Help' or 'Descendents' will win.

I think they ought to just get rid of the awards and stay with the red carpet. IMO the Oscars are a joke. Half of the pics that should win are not even nominated.
