Frozen director Chris Buck previously revealed in a Reddit AMA that there was a mind-blowing (and somewhat nonsensical) connection between Anna, Elsa and Tarzan — they were siblings.
In the AMA, he explained that Anna and Elsa's parents, who were thought to have died in a shipwreck, actually survived long enough to take their newborn son to a jungle shore and build a treehouse, only to be eaten by a leopard (talk about bad luck).
If the story sounds familiar, it's the alarming intro to Tarzan, meaning - gasp! - Tarzan is Anna and Elsa's younger brother. (Buck also happens to have directed Tarzan.)
Now, Buck has explained the origin story behind this theory — spoiler alert, it was a lot of free time to think about the Disney-verse.
“When you’re working on a feature, you have a lot of time to think about stuff because it takes four years to make one,” Buck said to MTV.
"In my little head, Anna and Elsa’s brother is Tarzan — but on the other side of that island are surfing penguins, to tie in a non-Disney movie, Surf’s Up. That’s my fun little world," he adds.
So while this "theory" is more the brainchild of a bored animator than Disney-canon, Buck seems totally open to all our equally contrived theories.
“I say, whatever people want to believe, go for it,” Buck said. “If you want to tie them all together, then do it. That’s the spirit of Disney.”
