I like the spot gloss, was hoping the eye might be debossed but still looks good.

Is it the black of the eye that you think is spot glossed? I didn't notice that until you said it.

Judging by the pictures of the back I'm guessing you really lile this steel Ricster? Disappointed they didn't go with the DVD art of the foot for that though

The bare metal of the eye looks awful and the matte finish doesn't bring out the best of the artwork. Another disappointing release from Sony in my opinion

I don't know what it is with Sony steelbooks, I just really don't like the treatment they give them. Django Unchained is the only Sony steelbook I truly liked. Spider-man trilogy and even this deserve better, with that said at least it's remastered in 4K, so a step up at least.

They have some good ones bud. Amazing Spiderman, SALT (imo), Green Hornet to name a few. O yea and MIB trilogy.

Sony are usually pretty good doing nice glossy steels. O yea ive remembered another. Total Recall (2012).

Nope. Godzilla never looked great on home video and in the cinemas too due to the dark filming style.

Yeah, just look at the diffusion of light outside the eye vs the shine in the eye. I think it's probably the whole eye, Ricster?

The whole eye is spot gloss including the bare silver section.

Mine turned up this morning. Looks gorgeous, very smooth finish with gloss highlights. This is how The Aviator should have looked.
