It is with pleasure that I can announce to you steelbook fans something that has been in the works for a while. From Scanavo comes Blu-ray Fr4me.

FR4ME™ presents a new generation of packaging. Scanavo’s FR4ME™ is a stylish, collectable and unique new way to package media.

It is Scanavo’s designers’ aim to add more collector value to media packaging and with it‘s stylish design and creative choices Fr4me™ does not disappoint!
Fr4me™ is the first packaging which gives Blu-rayTM owners the choice to customise their pack with their preferred choice of artwork. Fr4me™ can even stand, unaided, in a horizontal position like a real frame.

It’s stylish, minimalistic looks have presented a major attraction to film studio Universal Pictures, who have commissioned it for the UK release of their Sci-fi blockbuster OBLIVION, starring Tom Cruise.

Within its innate ability to house a range of artwork, Fr4me™ can accommodate media on a range of materials, for instance lenticular. There is a special physical closeness to the artwork for the owner as there is no plastic film covering. A multitude of creative options exist for film studios to make Fr4me™ ideal for any genre and title.

Fr4me™ comes in a wide range of standard colours and the durable ABS substrate from which the outer ‘frames’ are made adds an exclusive touch which further redefines Blu-rayTM packaging.

With Scanavo comes the natural reassurance of quality. Scanavo - the premium packaging specialists - have created something worthy of the quality of Blu-rayTM. In a still strong physical media market, Fr4me™ adds value back into packaging and is sure to kick-start a whole new community of collectors.

OBLIVION packed in Fr4me™ will be available at most major UK retailers.
More exciting options for Fr4me™ will be developed in the near future!

Fr4me™ is a patented media packaging by Scanavo. Heard first at Hi-def Ninja

Gotta give it a close look to have a conclusive opinion, but it doesn't look that great.

I have seen some displays that have Steelbooks on the wall in frames, but in this case it just seems like they are simply trying to cater to movie fans who want to display select movies a little differently. Time will tell if it will catch on. Coming from a leader in the industry, I am glad they're thinking outside of...well, the fr4me:) But as usual the marketplace will vett the product....

Yes we do, but does anyone here frame their blu-rays?!

I have seen some displays that have Steelbooks on the wall in frames,

As of right now I do have one framed in a shadow box. It is currently on the wall

And my firefly steelbook that I got signed will be joining it soon enough.

Think it would take up every inch of wallspace :hilarious: Most of mine are still in boxes sadly atm

Depends on how much wall space one may have EEK!

Mine are covered in posters. About 7 right now. I actually measured that I could cram like 63 posters 27x40 in my apartment EEK! not that i would do that tho :hilarious:

Just out of interest, where does the extra art come from ?

- is it included ?
- is it downloadable from a website ? At extra cost ?
- if downloadable, will it be high quality for photo printers ?
- I'm guessing it won't be standard photo paper size, so trimming will need to be done

looks to be very cheaply made, Ill stick with my steels. They are made with more effort (most of the time) and look stunning

Even the Steels are cheaply made as it 85% plastic though it looks appealing which what matters.;) The material outside is one of the flimsiest I have seen.

In case of this frame, it doesn't look appealing at all. Sometimes you have to judge the book by it's cover which works well with Steelbooks but certainly not this frame:naughty:
