That's the problem there for Zavvi in a nutshell :-

Steelbook by itself - would most likely sell out PDQ (judging by other similar releases) but Zavvi would be left with ZBOXs gathering dust in their warehouse which they can't shift for 20 quid despite the fact that the contents can include some decent collectable stuff (eg Dredd badge, Funko Pops etc.).

They clearly NEED the steelbook to shift the ZBOXs for them.

Steelbook / ZBOX combo - gradual sales of both items and they WILL sell if only for Dad to have the steelbook and the children/young adults to have the ZBOXs.

Of course the steelbook will come by itself but IMO only AFTER monies have been taken from those that ordered the combo.

Not everyone can afford this combo every month, I accept that but how many of these for marvel steels are there gonna be?

More so, how about the people who miss the pre-order day and lose out to some greedy bugger who has ordered several copies to sell on or trade?

This is a way to 'guarantee' getting this steelbook. I've said it before, you can get it with the zbox for £40 or spend £40 or more down the road without the zbox.

Again, there may be some good stuff this month *cue the sarcastic comments*, those who don't want it can at least get fifteen quid back selling the zbox on, if there's a funko in there then that's at least a tenner on its own.

We're all collectors here, who can say honestly that every marvel steel they own was bought for the retail price? We've all had to pay over the odds at some point, I don't think this is a bad deal to be fair.

I think everyone would rather just pay for and get the steelbook on its own.

This is where the 'fear factor' comes in. Is it worth the risk of missing out (if it doesn't get an individual release), or do you hope for the best and prove a point in the long run?

No one would be happy if this Z-box shenanigans becomes a common thing, we'll all lose out (or at least spend a lot more), and I certainly don't think it's the best idea Zavvi have ever had. I'm not getting this steelbook no matter what happens, but I do hope it becomes available for those who want it. I also hope the Z-box + steelbook is a failure too, as I know somewhere down the line it'll happen to a title I do want, then I'll be faced with the issue some are having now.

If or when that day comes, I think I'll hold out and hope for the best.

personally i will not buy this either but my reasons are i have paid out last year for play ones.
but regards this becoming the norm which no one wants. i will state now i will never ever buy a steel with a zbox ever!

also my opionon which people may feel free to disagree with, by buying this now you are only re-inforcing zavvis business model and giving them reason to carry on with this bad practice for future steel collectors, this is not good news and will all end in tears for us all.
Sometimes being strong is required for the greater good and maybe just maybe force zavvis hand for once.

I've always paid retail price, HMV's Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger & Avengers Assemble.
Play's Iron Man, Iron Man 2 & The Incredible Hulk.
Zavvi's Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Guardians of the Galaxy.

To be fair, buying the Z-box + steelbook from Zavvi is still paying the retail price. It's just you're paying more because it's being packaged with some other stuff you may or may not want. Besides, you can't compare that to the secondary market which is essentially offering a different service. As it is, the price of Marvel steelbooks has been increasing for years now in the UK. Sure, you're getting the 3D discs, but you can't tell me that they cost anything like the prices we're being charged. Zavvi are, which is well within their right, charging what they think they can get away with. But it does leave a slightly bitter taste in the mouth.

Every marvel steel I've bought was for retail price.

..... Ironically the ones I feel I've paid over the odds on are the ones I've bought from zavvi, I wish I could bring back the days of play.com and HMV marvel steels, I could walk into 3 HMVs close to me for months after release and see Thor and Captain America steels sat on the shelves...

In the same breath Some of us don't like paying £40 for Asian steelbooks that come with all the extra cardboard, I'm not interested in the slip, a number card, art cards or lenticulars but we still pay it to get the steelbook and no one batters an eye lid or even when they released 4 different avengers films with 4 different slips! Why do that? To get more sales and more money but yet no body complains now that zavvi are doing it everybody is kicking off, a cardboard slip has the same value as a cheap comic in a Zbox to me, nothing.

At least you know what your buying with an Asian release and can see the extras, with this you have no Idea what the extra £20 is going on.
I don't buy many asian releases or with all this extra packaging but the ones I do own it's because I could see the whole package first.

Like basil has said too, not everyone an afford a mystery each month and especially when those mysteries are quite naff. I've seen a handful of decent products in these boxes and the dredd badge was probably their best effort

Has anyone considered if this fails perhaps zavvi won't bother with UK exclusive re-releases of marvel films.

They don't have to release these steels like you don't have to buy this bundle.

Exactly, I mean as many problems as we have personally had with zavvi, truth is they didn't have to take on steelbooks as a thing and release so many awesome films and as I've previously stated people complained no steelbook inside zbox, there is now and people wanted iron man steelbook and they are releasing one, so what they are taking advantage of a selling opportunity selling something people want but also making them buy the zbox to be honest they can do whatever they want. They aren't forcing you to buy it so it doesn't need this constant repetitive nonsense.

I tired to get people who have actually ordered and are interested in the actual product to discuss it rather than this endless moaning.

If this fails they will know it's not because of iron Man.

One person asked for a steelbook in a Zbox. One person

And was discussed a few pages ago.
