For those members who wish to support this release, it is available here
Folks seem to be intrigued by Suicide Squad, so perhaps they'll add something related in Zbox?

Why are people still repeating the same thing over and over and over

They've sold a steelbook only with a zbox, it's not the end of the world, it's doesn't need almost 30 pages of moaning, it's happened, if you don't want to buy it that's fine but can't we stop this ridiculously repetitive debate, people need to get over it, Zavvi can to be honest do as they please.

Can we have some discussion about the actual items instead of moaning constantly.

What do people (who are interested) think will be in the renegades zbox (and please dont' just reply, junk as always or something)

Do you think steel book will be 2 disc?

I think its a 1 disc steelbook :p

The steelbook will arrive damaged you put the pieces together yourself :p

It's not damaged, its a call back to the 90s where each month you receive 1 piece to build your steelbook. In this zbox we will receive the spine, I hear next months we'll get the plastic bit to hold the disc. You'll also receive a booklet detailing zavvi's history of steelbooks with reviews on all the best releases, like the graduate and elephant man.

Its understandable that collectors who are interested in the IM steel but not the Zbox would be unhappy they can't order it separately. However, that's what's available and Zavvi are totally within their rights to sell it that way. By all means make your feelings known to Zavvi but the level of righteousness and expectation in this thread is hilarious. No one is entitled to this Steelbook, buy it or don't. Some certainly will and the success of this trial will ultimately determine whether it is repeated, not the volume of whining or accusations of illegal trading on here.

So even after all the hype and grand announcements it's still available even with its limited quantity, didn't Play.com's iron man steel sell out within a couple of days with a 4000 copy print run? Fair enough it was ten quid and didn't come shackled to an expensive box o' tat so maybe not a totally fair comparison, but it puts this release into perspective, I'm sure it will sell out eventually, will zavvi deem that a success? Probably, will they repeat the tactic... More than likely, will I buy into it? Difficult go say, I bought the Dredd themed box for the comic and badge which for me justified the cost of the z box, the rest of the contents was pretty meh, as far as this release goes, I would probably have bought the steel if it was available separately, but as far as the bundle wth the z box goes I'm voting with my wallet in the hope it sends the message that I won't be held to ransom and be press ganged into buying z boxes just to secure a steelbook, I'm more likely to ditch zavvi entirely and source my steels from other countries print runs as there seem to be very few true 'exclusives' most of the zavvi steels pop up in other European countries and usually cheaper even with postage...

well for me looking at the steel pics have to be honest not that impressed think i will be just sticking with my play ones
think the title will be embossed finish would need to be a high grade gloss but def not sure of the circuit look on the edges, i get the idea but till in hand pics appear a proper judgement can't fully be made.

it s a real shame they didn't do a proper iron man 3 instead think that would have been more welcomed personally.

but hey ho
basil

The interior artwork certainly implies a 2 disk! We await solid information though I suppose.

If this steelbook is ONLY available with the ZBOX it will be a first for Zavvi as far as I know and about as likely as . . . well, you know !

I think there is a similarity between this and the Cops ZBOX - that is priced @GBP 43 with the steelbook and @GBP 20 without and this Renegades ZBOX with the steelbook is priced @ GBP 40 and @GBP 20 without.
I'd say this looks quite reasonable by comparison . . . LOL.

But, seriously, what happened to the 'Dredd' standalone steelbook, which 'Sold out' PDQ at Zavvi and then mysteriously appeared on the parent company's site FOR A MONTH - with a 7 quid saving to boot - before selling out for true, could be relevant here ?

I can just see it now:-
Zavvi - 'Iron Man' Lenticular Steelbook @ GBP 21.99
Hut - 'Iron Man' Lenticular Steelbook @ 15.99 + 1.98 P&P

It's not really a fair comparison.

At the time, as you say, Play's Iron Man was only £10.99 and it was also announced with Iron Man 2. The only IM Blu-ray steelbook up to that point was the FS version which was long out of print and only available for sky-high prices on Ebay. Now the FS version is cheaper than it's ever been, there's the Play version still out there on Ebay along with the BluFans version and Kimichi edition.

It's a buyers market. If I was interested right now in getting an IM steelbook, and faced with spending £40 on it, I'd pick up the BluFans version as I think it looks better than Zavvi's and is definitely a 2-disc edition. This one, while still nice is just another in a long line and packaged with a Z-Box which no one really wants. That said, it might still sell out, but I doubt it until it gets released individually.

Apparently IM 2 is coming too according to the Zbox curator on twitter.
That good news except the part its come from Zbox Staff

Zavvi will struggle to sell popular titles if they go with selling them only as part of a Zbox package

When it a very popular title they would in most cases sell out quickly and at maximum profit when its just the steelbook on its own

If they start doing this now with future popular titles only available if purchased with a Zbox they will loose out on sales they would have automatically got

I can understand them wanting to make profit from a Zbox and they can do so if they offer a big discount if your order both separately in an order but they will struggle to sell a steelbook if its tied to a Zbox
If a steelbook is available on its own and also as part of a package then yes they will sell out but not if its only available with a Zbox

They will learn the hard way if they take this route only as part of a Zbox package
and it wont last long as they will have to go back to with a steelbook been available on its own

It's simple maths, let's say they are doing 1000 of these packages and they only sell 500 which they seem to have hit already.

That's £20,000 they've made, even if 30% of that is profit that's still £6000 they've come out with on top, if they sell them all its £12,000. You can't say that's a failed model for zavvi to work with. I'm not sure what the mark up is, it may be more but either way it's a successful model.

Plus we don't know all the time how many of these marvel steels they get in a print run, how many times do they sell out when they go live then a few weeks they go live again. The fact they haven't shifted 1000 yet doesn't meant anything. I bet you they will though, they've cleared over half that in a week by the looks of it

I'll add this, most of the mystery boxes have some super cool exclusive items that become highly sought after. Case in point loot crate, they more or less every other month have a lootcrate exclusive funko pop. Last year there was an exclusive glow in the dark groot funko, it now commands silly money on eBay and was worth way more than the box subscription was initially.

The only difference here is we got to find out before hand about one of the items in this zavvi box.
