The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 -
Better than Mockingjay Part 1, but without a real Hunger Games event, this franchise is less interesting. This is a pretty dark movie where you feel the stakes better than the last few. The fight in the sewers is probably my favorite scene in the entire franchise, but the actual final fight was lacking.
Beast of No Nation -
Great movie but I never want to watch this again because it's such a difficult movie to watch. Amazing performances by the entire cast and very well done. While this movie likely doesn't do justice to the horrors of actual child soldiers, its a good movie for general awareness.
Bone Tomahawk -
Low budget western with Kurt Russell was surprisingly great. Very slow movie for the first hour, but this is one of the most brutal, violent movies I've ever seen with a great final 30 minutes. This movie contains probably the most violent death I've seen on screen, so consider yourself warned.
Knock, Knock -
Interesting premise and a good first 45 minutes, but pretty bad afterwards. Only good for the main girls and Keanu doing some scene chewing scenes.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials -
Very different from the first, but there was a decent amount of action. I wish there was more focus on the returning characters than the new ones, but I still enjoyed this movie as much as the first despite it being less unique. In general I find the Maze Runner movies more entertaining than Hunger Games and Divergent.
American Ultra -
Decent premise, but everything else was very mediocre. Some decent action, but this movie needed more crazy off the pan type moments and needed stronger humor.
Spectre -
My biggest problem with Spectre was the surprisingly weak main villain and inconsistent tone of the movie. The Craig movies seemed to be more realistic and serious and this movie seemed to play too much homage to old Bond movies with not only fan service, but the a different tone and story to the detriment of Spectre. Despite that, the opening scene in Mexico City and the train fight is worth the price of admission.
