From IMDB:

Old info:
The fact that there will be another Batman film in Christopher Nolan’s presumptive trilogy is assumed by just about everyone, despite the fact that there has been no formal announcement of the film. But in the runup to the release of Nolan’s Inception, which opens on July 16, there is already some talk about what the next Batman film might look like.

Wally Pfister is the cinematographer responsible for all of Christopher Nolan’s features from Memento on, and his photography was one of the things I liked best about The Dark Knight. He captured Chicago-as-Gotham with a simplicity and clarity that was very uncharacteristic of most superhero films. Now he’s talking about possibilities for the third film, including the option of 3D. Hint: don’t expect Batman 3D.

Cinematical spoke to Pfister when the Dallas Film Society presented him with the Star Award for accomplishments in cinematography. The site promises a full interview in which Pfister explains the “mutual disinterest” he and Christopher Nolan have for 3D. But they do quote him saying,
What Chris and I have talked about is doing something cool and something interesting…Brad Bird was [saying] ‘you’ve got to shoot the whole thing in IMAX!’ I was like, yeah, I’ve talked to Chris about that.

There’s also another comment, which seems to refer to shooting more of this upcoming film in IMAX:

But I think Chris is game for doing something interesting like that, Lord knows that the 3-D fad might pass by the time that summer comes around.

AICN, meanwhile, got a few more of Pfister’s comments from a tipster. Both the cinematographer and Nolan are disinterested in digital cinematography and very much prefer to shoot on film. That’s the root of their disinterest in 3D, which Pfister said is “great for like amusement park rides like the ‘Honey I Shrunk The Kids’ ride at Disneyland.” Pfister also called 3D a distraction and not realistic.

The appeal of IMAX and the disinterest in 3D both come from that love of shooting on film. While 3D lacks realism, shooting in IMAX has huge latitude, and captures incredible detail. The downside to IMAX is that the cameras are bulky and loud, and the format is expensive.

FYI, Batman on Film is saying that Warner Bros. will officially announce the third Batman film in July. Which isn’t that much of a deductive leap, as Nolan hasn’t been interested in talking about Batman while he finishes Inception, and that movie is released in July. Plus, there’s that little Comic Con gathering in San Diego. So expect more news in July.

I hope they would consider releasing director's cut but highly doubt anything like that will happen - Nolan never does director's cuts.

The only hope I have that Nolan might want to show us his original cut of the movie he presented to Warner Bros. before they decided to drasticly cut it. It was almost 3hrs and a half long and had some Bane backstory parts in it.

From CBM:
After about a month and a half in theaters, Warner Bros.' The Dark Knight Rises has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Christopher Nolan-directed superhero epic has now grossed $431.2 million domestically and approximately $574 million internationally, for a total of $1.005 billion through Sunday. This is slightly more than The Dark Knight's $1.0003B worldwide gross. The third and final installment in Nolan's Batman trilogy is officially the 13th film in history to surpass $1B (11th without being re-released), and only the third comic book movie to do so.

The biggest difference between the intake of The Dark Knight Rises and The Dark Knight is that the former has been more successful overseas, but not quite as successful at the domestic box office as the latter. The Dark Knight made $533M in North America and $469.7M internationally during its theatrical run. Many believe that TDKR didn't make quite as much money in the United States due to the tragic Aurora theater shootings on July 20th.

The only other film to gross $1B worldwide this year is Marvel's The Avengers, which today has surpassed $1.5B, becoming the third highest grossing film of all time.

Awesome results for a more than Epic Conclusion!

For the entire list of billionnaire movies:

Possible Directors Cut!!!! Maybe 30 minutes longer when the theatrical Cut. Might Include Bane's origin story:D

At least, Nuke the Fridge seems to be confident a Director's Cut is in the works. "According to our reliable spies, we will be able to see how Bane learns to fight plus more scenes involving
Ra’s Al Ghul
.
The new Director’s Cut is said to make the film about thirty minutes longer," the website claims

Gimme more and more!!! Can't get enought!!!! And YEAH, I'm talking about Batman... nothing else you perverts! :hilarious:

I will call it now - The Dark Knight Rises will have a record breaking box office take in its first weekend!

Oh and although I know this movie will be great, I don't think it will beat what Avengers has done. (Money wise) Its a much more gritty movie and many parents won't take kids to this where as they were more inclined to do so with Avengers.

Hopefully we'll start to hear rumblings on the home release soon! Hoping this'll be out on Blu by Xmas :D

Yeah you are right Wreck as usual. I forgot I was once a kid and my parents did not stop me from watching all the grown up movies and look what happened to me :hilarious:

Truth be told, I walked out of the Avengers movie completely bored and uninterested except during those times when SJ was on screen. I am convinced Avengers earned more $ because of the higher ticket price of its 3D presentation but that is for another place and time.

I can't wait to redo my Batman marathon with my home theater!!! :scat:
Come on Canada, bring us a nice steel to fit the 2 others.
Come on Japan, bring us an amazing white steel to fit too!!!

Felt the same as you did. I liked Avengers but thought it was a CGI fest with no story and to be honest I liked the separate movies for each Avenger much more. TDKR had a great story telling and that's what I really liked about it. On the other hand Avengers were the first of a possible trilogy (?) and TDKR already had two very strong previous films to support it.

Regarding the total gross we need to consider two disadvantages: not a 3D movie and the Aurora shooting.

Couldn't have said it better myself
