ORIGINAL POST:
According to OneRing.net, the home of all Lord of the Rings news and fanfare, the Extended Edition will finally arrive on November 12th and that the 3D version will include seven discs; four Blu-rays, three DVDs. It also sounds like WETA will be involved in some way or form, so there's an excellent chance that we'll receive a cool Collector's Edition like the old LotR Extended Edition DVD sets. I'll update this post/thread as more information is revealed.

EDIT: Thanks to BarnDoor for mentioning that Peter Jackson has stated that the Extended Cut will run an extra 20-25 minutes in length.

So the US, German and French Amazon all have this up. I hope the UK gets a version of it as well.

If not, I might import it from France. I just hope it doesn't have too much French actually on it.

The UK looks like it is getting a Bilbo's Trunk edition, there's a thread here. I don't think they would get this edition aswell although the listing has been removed for now so I'm not sure what's happening?

I didn't think they would sell 2 different sets for the 2D and 3D. They usually just have one and that's it! I think for the little extra the 3D is better value but if you have no interest in it then I can see why people would pick the 2D version up.:)

I have what is called a lazy eye, which prevents me from seeing 3D all together, but for a few bucks extra I prefer to have the 3D disc as well. Maybe a friend or a family member would like to watch it in 3D

Well after seeing the ugly UK steelbook this is by far the best option for me to go for. I bet the blue band will be stuck on the UK amaray too
