ORIGINAL POST:
According to OneRing.net, the home of all Lord of the Rings news and fanfare, the Extended Edition will finally arrive on November 12th and that the 3D version will include seven discs; four Blu-rays, three DVDs. It also sounds like WETA will be involved in some way or form, so there's an excellent chance that we'll receive a cool Collector's Edition like the old LotR Extended Edition DVD sets. I'll update this post/thread as more information is revealed.

EDIT: Thanks to BarnDoor for mentioning that Peter Jackson has stated that the Extended Cut will run an extra 20-25 minutes in length.

Well after seeing the ugly UK steelbook this is by far the best option for me to go for. I bet the blue band will be stuck on the UK amaray too

There's still hope for a Decent Lenticular Extended Cut steelbook from Germany :D

Also does this cover and the Cover for the UK steelbook, do they have a Similarity covers Like the old Star Wars Covers/posters?

I've emailed Amazon.com asking if it's region free
And emailed Amazon.co.uk if they'll be getting it

I'll post any answers I get

I'll change it when I get home then. Cheers
*edit: Postage changed - cost a few dollars more. Auto added import fees of $15.99 whihc courier pays on my behalf.

Left it as is just in case it finally gets added to UK store.

Would order off amazon.de but last time I did that for a Steelbook limited edition I had to change the default language to English every time I booted it up...can't be bothered with that again!

Hmm... is this only obtainable from Amazon.com and amazon.de? Anyone know if it is region locked in the US? I really want one with the statue... sigh...

Customs!! :(

I've been mostly lucky when it comes to customs, but occasionally I've been charged. If you purchase through Amazon there's an option to add a gift message. I'm not sure if that means it's a gift as far as customs are concerned though. If it is, then it means you can import something up to the value of £38 or so and not be charged.

As far as I know there is no customs when you purchase something within the European Union (if you live in a country member of the EU)... I mean if you import from Italy or Germany to UK you should pay no customs at all...

Or did I miss something? UK customs charges you even if the shipment comes within the EU? :wtf:

I meant from the U.S to UK.

I meant from the U.S to UK.

Anyway, I don´t know how it works for the UK but when we purchase something from Amazon USA to Spain with the cheapest shipping method, the package goes first to Germany and then to Spain (the package comes with a sticker from the German postal service).

And we think that Amazon USA sends first the shippments to its German branch and from Germany they distribute the shippments.

I know it might sound crazy.

When you purchase something from Amazon US to the UK, what shipping method do you use? The cheapest one? And does it come with a sticker from the German postal service? Or does it come directly from the US?

I´m just curious to see how Amazon works.
