Would like to see art on Fast and Furious Steels...and since there is duplication on titles between DE and UK, I'd like to compare art, first to see if they are the same, or different...

OH MY GOD!!
WHAT THE HELL ARE MEDIA MARKT PLAYING AT??
FLOODING THE MARKET LIKE THIS IS SIMPLY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF STEELBOOK COLLECTORS. PLUS, MEDIA MARKT HAVE ALREADY RELEASED SOME OF THESE MOVIES IN STEELBOOKS, SO THE WHOLE THING REEKS OF RIP OFF!! (JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION, OF COURSE!!)

Leelee-no doubt many feel the same. But the studios will be the ones pushing re-release, after re-release as well, because they know they can sell edition, after edition....

The problem is they are giving perception to the collector of a de-valued product. Sooner or later the collectors will give up and then the studios are F***ed.

It reeks of desperation.

Kind of like BTTF is gonna be a hot item. I would pay $30 for each one. Scott Pilgrim which already got released in steelbook I wouldn't pay more than $15.

Chip, the studios have always and will always play the 're-release' game of editions. The bankable titles are their bread and butter. From what I've seen over the years, only the OCD SB collectors and folks that get in over their head in a resale and flip game get burned out quick and exit. Many people don't buy because there is an assumption of an increased 'value'-they do so because they love the movie, and want an upgraded case-lots of shades of grays of collectors out there.

Most people don't care about buying all of these Steelbooks, and despite the 'Waves' that have been occurring since last year, SB's continue to gain in popularity and more people are starting to buy them.

For those that are buying 'select' movies because they like them, and are resisting double and triple (and worse) dipping, the frustration rate with all of these waves will remain low-they'll simply buy (and some will open and watch) the movies they want.

This is not the last ed we'll see of these movies. They continue to sell and studios know it....

You know what's funny, I used to complain about Warner Bros. re-releasing steelbooks in Germany.

Universal's gone and made them look pretty darn tame lately. :hilarious:

Why don't the studios smarten up? Instead of re-releasing in Europe, how about throwing US a bone. I think it would make it a little more collectable.

Costs to import are quite high (for g2 steelies) and to be frank, Germany is a hot bed for steelbooks. The US, by comparison, is not even close.

Also, studios aren't really interested in collectibility. They're just in it for the money. Steelbooks are more popular overseas, so it makes sense to them to release them there.

Omg another wave so quick. Decisions, decisions, decisions decisions now that Play.com joined too vs German ones:

-English titles?
-Backcover art? (Play.com)
-Inside art? (Play.com

decisions decisions. Come on Play show us some artworks. :(
