Seriously. I'm with Forbes on the Avengers (Assemble) when they said - "I sat through two hours and 22 minutes of The Avengers. And when it was over, I wanted my $15 back."

The vast majority of people don't know their blu ray is edited; I'm sure a large number of those that did find out the film was edited didn't care that much.

It's over 30 years now since the BBFC was tasked with rating home video and they used to be pretty severe about it. We are lucky we can (customs willing) buy a DVD or blu ray from anywhere in the world and play it on our region free players. We can find the version with the best picture and sound quality, unedited, and be content.

So if you didn't like the film, why are you in a thread talking about it?

You'd be surprised.

Of note, the BBFC weren't aware that the film had been edited from it's theatrical release.

Home video releases have to go through the BBFC to get classified. This is because a movie may receive a higher, or indeed lower certificate for viewing at home. There have been cases where a movie was a 15 at the cinema but an 18 on VHS (because viewers could rewind and review scenes of violence etc.) and even 15 at the cinema and 15 on VHS but cut (Eraser) where the option would have been upgrading it to an 18. Also bear in mind that 12A isn't a home viewing certificate, only 12.

The version we have on DVD and Blu-ray was submitted by Disney in that edited version (missing the spear tip but gaining the shwarma scene which the UK didn't have at the cinema). The BBFC rated it 12, and after the issue was raised said they'd have given the unedited version a 12 too.

All of you stop going on about the bloody spear tip! I keep seeing the thread bump to the top thinking it that its gone live or artwork has been released!! [emoji12]

Haha :D . Yeah I'm not remotely bothered about the spear tip tbh - but after the Guardians of the Galaxy art reveal I'm slightly concerned the art for this will end up as Captain America's mouthwash or something...

I hope they don't go all iron man 3 and GOTG on us and give us a rubbish design, but got a feeling it will be something like the tessaract briefcase!

Tastes like freedom?

It'll be interesting to see what direction they go in. I have a feeling it won't be quite as "abstract" as the GotG one though :D
