Prices are a bit more fair right now compared to what it was originally announced. I mean how much do you guys pay for a double sided lenticular UE from Blufans? $75 - $80? Add to that, this has 6 discs worth of content, and the full slip has a 100 page booklet.

True. But this is not a $200 million sfx extravaganza. This is a documentary.
Will they do double-sided lenti versions of the Michael Palin Travel Documentaries?!!!:woot:

I see what you are saying but for me personally I don't buy the ridiculously priced BF ones either for just that reason. I have short arms and deep pockets ;)

The price with cheapest shipping is $106.99 for 1 steelbook that's a lot more than Blufans comparison of $75 and that includes shipping costs with Blufans

Mirage Entertainment got the pricing all wrong with this release it should be including shipping no more than $60.00 - $70.00
Planet Earth is a back catalogue TV Series title the discs are from 2011 it's not a recent blockbuster film or a marvel or disney release

The only way this will sell well is if the price including shipping drops to $50-$70
BBC licence costs not a factor for the discs themselves as that already has previous distribution licence in Korea
The only new licence fee would be for the steelbook itself and yes it's a beautiful steelbook and lot of attention to detail has gone into the full slip and the lenti

It's not Plain Archives fault the pricing as they only the third party seller for international overseas customers
Mirage Entertainment need to drop the price a lot to have any hope of this steelbook selling so plain archive can get orders from customers

If this was a Marvel or Disney release it would be a different matter but it's not in the same league as those releases

To purchase all 3 Planet Earth versions with shipping is $301.97 USD = 3 Steelbooks

Comparison

I got the Zero Dark Thirty 3 Steelbooks and Keepcase Edition
4 items for $168 and that included shipping

Planet Earth
3 Versions including shipping $301

Zero Dark Thirty
4 Versions including shipping $168

Must be nice to have such features. Most of us wish we had the same ;)

I know someone would've made this point :D. And I completely agree with you.
It is still overpriced, but I was simply considering all the expenses that goes into bringing this product alive.
Like license fees, cost of packaging, finishing, etc. I don't know the completely story so I just didn't want to judge.
That's why I was simply saying the price is better than what it was before but still not attractive :)

You're always the bearer of bad news ain't ya ...

But you're right. They expect a discount from YOU but reluctant to give one themselves.

To be frank. has there even been a discount offered by Asian retailers?

They release at X and jack it up by few quid after few days. To me they are first degree scalpers. With current exchange rates, we end up paying more.

$60 was £38 few months back but now it is £42. Thanks to fall in oil prices and trading in $$$. No wonder majority of these are selling at loss.
