*PLEASE NOTE: This list is a 'guide' only and compiled based on a variety of factors including community 'feedback' and 'suggestions'. Steelbook collecting is HIGHLY SPECULATIVE, and different collectors have different ideas of 'rarity', 'limited', 'sought after', and related terms-all of which may change at the drop of a hat with re-releases, or new info.

Please visit the Steelbook forum, if you have more detailed questions regarding specific titles, and their 'current' status, as this list is 'dynamic' and changes over time. *

I posted this in another forum before but I prefer this one, so I try again here. This is an ongoing list that combines a variety of factors that may contribute to the scarcity or rarity of these Steelbooks.-Sirjump

We started off with a "ranked" list, but as many folks may rank items differently, a general "resource" list of harder to find Steelbooks/Rare titles helps the community more. Feel free to comment so we can consider adding or subtract. -Digitalbabe

:scat:Keep sharing your thoughts & together we can help the list evolve!:)

Possible criteria as to what makes a steelbook rare/hard to find:

* General interest in movie
* Availability at retailer & exclusivity
* Print run
* Country of origin & region code
* Steelcase design
* (Initial) price
* Individually numbered items
* Print Errors
* Hype
* Price on 3rd party marketplaces

As far as rare, does it matter whether they are Blu Ray or just DVD? I'm a noob, but have a bunch of steelbooks.. Just realize that there are more people like me who enjoy them.

how about will the new steelbooks like batman begins,heat,matrix and what ever came out with them go out of print

I have a question:
how rare is Terminator 2 [NL] ??????

Good question....to be honest I dont have it. Presumed its the same as all the others released around the world. Would love to see a pic.

What is rare, but are not steelbook, are the blu ray steel case releases from Australia....especially Inglorious Basterds, The Dark Knight, Terminator 2 and Saving Private Ryan.
If you have any of these then you are sitting on little gems.

Would Star Trek (FS,CA) release be the same ranking as Star Trek (Play.com, UK)?

And Transformers ROTF, I don't think it is that rare. I have been able to get my hands on at least 10 copies in the last four months...

Ironically, my first two steelbooks which I got this january were Star Trek (FS,CA) and Transformers ROTF. I was able to get both for $100. Great deal, imho.

Transformers ROTF steelbook with movie will go for $45-$65, depending on the seller.
Star Trek will go for $60-$80

all in CDN dollars.

the most on the hard to find list are avaible, it depends just the price

but the list sometitels are strange
Pulp Fiction (FR) on place 23
i saw last week 5 of them 4 15€ in the supermarket
also place 32 The Mist (TF1, FR) i saw for 10€ last week
but not on the list & very hard to find is 4 me just 1
VOLT (French Ironpack from Virgin)
impossible 4 me to get :(

how can you forget this one ?

So the Underworld trilogy coming out now again in Ger is top10 :twisted:

How can District 9 UK HMV be rare when the "same" release goes for 12 euros on Amazon.De??

Because its District 9 UK not District 9 German ... so it's rare as the cover is in all English the German one has German on it .. so its different but similar. Rare and "sought after" are two entirely different things.

Though technically any and all steels with min. print runs are then actually equally rare.

Oh and if the Underworld Trilogy comes out and its a piss poor re-release like the recent re-releases with printed FSKs then yes ... original Underworld would still be the "one to have" for the true fans of the films.

I would presume the Canada one would be the most sought after for an English speaking person as it has no ratings logos. (D9) I settled for the cheap German one, very nice!

i dont know what you think about this 2 babies, but i have had hard time to get perfume metal pack and ice age trilogy iron pack, i saw this last one listed on e bay this week for more than 100 usa not including the shipping do you thing they should make the list?

Firstly, Perfume was released with a large batch of Metalpaks a few months ago from Holland. The others were widely marketed and are still available. This one wasnt, and along with The Notebook, they are both quite hard to find.
ice Age Trilogy is also quite difficult to find. The main reason this ironpak is expensive is that its a trilogy of the 3 films. You can still find this though for around 50-70 euros.
I would say in rarity value regarding Ironpaks and Metalpaks they are both rare as they are oop.
The 1 ironpack you should try and source is the misprinted version of Independence Day. The spine is without the letter I. I just recently picked this up for 70 euros and was very pleased as I recently found out that only 350 copies leaked out.

why is Iron man Ger on place 6, that steel is not very rare, still many available on second market (like bluray-disc.de) and price for mint copy´s are also not that high.

Better put Terminator black Edition before Iron man Ger.

Also Death Race Ger should be @ least before Zombieland and somewhere after Hellboy 2 Ger.
