Asopp it's truly funny that you picked those two films and how different we are when it comes to them! Birdman & Cloud Atlas are both one my absolute all-time favourites. Hilarious.

Smashed -

This is a little, indipendent movie starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Aaron Paul. It tells us the story of a girl who likes booze very much. In fact, she's an alcoholic and this leads to a series of problems in her personal life and job -- she's a teacher in primary school. Her boyfriend isn't of much help since he's addicted to alcohol as well. Great personal and intimate flick, I felt empathic with the struggle of the two main characters. Highly recommended.

- Angelina was so good in this. A great retelling of the story from a different perspective.

The Machine (2013) -

- An equally good alternative to Ex Machina?

A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014) -

- A bit darker/serious tone than your average Liam Neeson movie.

Ernest & Celestine (2012) -

- You have to appreciate art when you see it. Highly recommended.

Skin Trade (2014) -

- Tony Jaa wasn't used to the fullest. And movie was below average at best.
