From IMDB:

Old info:
The fact that there will be another Batman film in Christopher Nolan’s presumptive trilogy is assumed by just about everyone, despite the fact that there has been no formal announcement of the film. But in the runup to the release of Nolan’s Inception, which opens on July 16, there is already some talk about what the next Batman film might look like.

Wally Pfister is the cinematographer responsible for all of Christopher Nolan’s features from Memento on, and his photography was one of the things I liked best about The Dark Knight. He captured Chicago-as-Gotham with a simplicity and clarity that was very uncharacteristic of most superhero films. Now he’s talking about possibilities for the third film, including the option of 3D. Hint: don’t expect Batman 3D.

Cinematical spoke to Pfister when the Dallas Film Society presented him with the Star Award for accomplishments in cinematography. The site promises a full interview in which Pfister explains the “mutual disinterest” he and Christopher Nolan have for 3D. But they do quote him saying,
What Chris and I have talked about is doing something cool and something interesting…Brad Bird was [saying] ‘you’ve got to shoot the whole thing in IMAX!’ I was like, yeah, I’ve talked to Chris about that.

There’s also another comment, which seems to refer to shooting more of this upcoming film in IMAX:

But I think Chris is game for doing something interesting like that, Lord knows that the 3-D fad might pass by the time that summer comes around.

AICN, meanwhile, got a few more of Pfister’s comments from a tipster. Both the cinematographer and Nolan are disinterested in digital cinematography and very much prefer to shoot on film. That’s the root of their disinterest in 3D, which Pfister said is “great for like amusement park rides like the ‘Honey I Shrunk The Kids’ ride at Disneyland.” Pfister also called 3D a distraction and not realistic.

The appeal of IMAX and the disinterest in 3D both come from that love of shooting on film. While 3D lacks realism, shooting in IMAX has huge latitude, and captures incredible detail. The downside to IMAX is that the cameras are bulky and loud, and the format is expensive.

FYI, Batman on Film is saying that Warner Bros. will officially announce the third Batman film in July. Which isn’t that much of a deductive leap, as Nolan hasn’t been interested in talking about Batman while he finishes Inception, and that movie is released in July. Plus, there’s that little Comic Con gathering in San Diego. So expect more news in July.

Wow, I have forgotten how awesome Batman Begins is on the big screen. Nolan is a genius and deserving of much recognition. TDK is next.

Just finished dark knight. On to dark knight rises! But first, a bathroom break.

Sent from my EVO3D using tapatalk for Android.

Oh yeah, just finished TDK over here too and man, the world is missing a great master actor in Heath Ledger. We miss you Heath.

TDK is an art masterpiece for all times. TDKR is NEXT!!!!

Here they are - 7th in line for the opening of the trilogy on IMAX in 3 hours!!!! And they are not giving out extras at the theater I am in :(

I ordered my ticket online(as you probably noticed earlier in this thread). Wanted to arrive about an hour early, but due to unexpected road construction it caused the drive to take 3 times as long as intended. However, when i got there the theater was about 3/4 seated already.. but I managed to find a seat about halfway up and dead center in between two groups of people.

As for the movie. TDKR was simply the best film of the year and could end up being in my top 5 of all time. I will be going back to see it, but jeezus. :oohyeah:

The theater I was at handed out tickets and raffled off a bunch of stuff, including the huge cardboard standups of Catwoman, Batman and Bane.

Sadly I didn't win those.

Wow. Wow. Wow. I am speechless. Best movie ever. I have no idea which movie those critics were watching but TDKR, in my book, is way better than the Avengers. I am getting the Bat!!!!!

This is Unbelievable

Police have confirmed 14 people have been killed and up to 50 injured after a shooting at a screening of the new Batman film in Denver, Colorado.

The suspect is now in custody.

A news press conference held by the Chief of the Aurora PD, Dan Oates, said that the shooting occurred just after 12.30am at a late night showing of the movie.

The suspect set off a gas canister before opening fire, and subsequently made claims to the police on the scene about explosives in his vicinity and his own residence.

News coming out of the area states that the screening of The Dark Knight Rises at the Aurora Mall was sold out, and the shooting broke out just after the trailers were shown.

Local reports say that some children are thought to be among the injured. The film has a PG 13 certificate in the States.

Eyewitnesses are stating that at first people thought the gunshots were part of the film.

The Dark Knight Rises, in which Batman tells Catwoman not to use guns, was released across the US today (20 July).

This is really sad. Some folks in the theater we were in had mentioned it. Keep these folks and their families in your prayers and thoughts.

Whoever came up with the Trilogy showing idea (and I hope it was Nolan) deserves a huge promotion. No spoilers here but watching the trilogy back to back to back really affirmed the genius and mastery of Christopher Nolan. It was seamless in perfection leading to TDKR. I highly recommend folks to do as bigrob and others are doing - watch BB and TDK before watching TDKR. And I am finally convinced, if more movies are made like the TDK trilogy, I need a bigger screen for my projector :D

The Dark Knight Rises needs to be watched on the big screen in the theater if not on IMAX for the best experience. The massive scale of this production is really felt on the big screen. There are more IMAX scenes here than in TDK and I hope they keep the movie format intact when they transfer to Blu-ray. I was really blown away by the scale of the production as revealed by the IMAX scenes.

Seriously to me there is simply no comparison. I really believe TDKR will draw more audience this opening weekend than TDK did on its opening as it has better dialogue, story line, audio and visuals than TDK in my opinion.

So I just bought tickets for two more IMAX showings this weekend :scat::scat::scat:
