For a price of $29.99, they should have included 3D. That being said, will only get it on sale. @dfoles, the UK 3D extended edition is jumbo. Overall, glad that US is getting more and more steels.

To get this or not because I have the theatrical cut in steelbook for this the other Hobbit and all 3 LOTR. I was planning on just getting the theatrical cut for the next one also then if they release a 6 movie extended edition set with the Hobbit and LOTR I want to get that. Hmmm...

Although I decided to stick to the lenticular hollow slip editions for the hobbit movies, this actually looks very nice. Out of all the other steels released, this has the best artwork to date. Love the picture of Smaug on the back, but I do hope the writing is not printed in the final product.

This works out great for me too because I never picked up The Desolation of Smaug
