How does a UK customer go about ensuring a safe passage through customs (if you know what I mean)? Is it just a case of leaving a note when completing the check out process?

Yes. Though I tend to send a follow up email to customer services to double check it's been 'marked' as such.
What kind of note do we leave exactly? This is my first time ordering straight from PA, but I expected the shipping options to be similar to Kimchi's where it allows you to write your own value so it'll get through customs... is that not the case with PA?

Does anyone know how the low numbers are dished out? Is it those with it in their basket first or those who complete the payment first? :naughty:
If you're ordering just a single version (i.e. not the triple- or dual-pack), then Plain states that they'll dole out numbers 1-100 on a first-come, first-served basis. So if you're the first one to put in an order, you get copy #0001. If you're the person that orders the 100th unit, you get copy #0100. BUT if you're the person that orders the 101st unit...it's completely random.

So how the individual versions getting first-come, first-served 1-100 copies will mix with people who order the triple- or dual-pack, I think that is up in the air. Refer to @severo's post above: Plain may choose to mix it up: Say that your order # for the triple-pack makes you the 50th person to order a 1/4 slip and the 100th person to order a lenticular (because a bunch a people just ordered the lenticular...instead of ordering the triple-pack), MAYBE Plain will give you 1/4 slip #0050 and lenticular #0100.
Or maybe people who order the triple- and dual-pack won't get any of the numbers #0001-#0100, maybe the monetary discount is the only incentive to getting the triple- or dual-pack. To my knowledge, Plain have not officially stated their policy in that situation.
BUT I can also tell you that for my order of the ISTD triple-pack, I received a 1/4-slip and paper slip below #0100. Which implies that Plain does mix-in and consider who people who order the triple-pack, dual-pack and individual copies of each version.

TLDR: Get your order in fast and you can get one of the first 100 numbered copies. If you order after the first 100 copies, it is completely random.

Edit: and I believe it's based on your order #, which I'm pretty sure is assigned after you've completed the payment.

i forgot to leave that note (to write 20$ value on the customs sheet) with my last orders, and they did send it "customs-friendly" (marked as 20$ / merchandise) anyway.
