Just 8 more hours to go for me! :hungry:

Watch this this morning and my opinion is below without any spoilers, although I will still put it in spoiler tag!
I thought it was amazing, had everything I hoped for. Affleck was amazing as Batman, the film really made me connect to him and understand his emotions. Superman was also good and the film still made me sympathise with him. Primarily it felt like it is more of a Batman film that has Superman in it to me. Wonder Woman, although in it briefly stole the show a bit towards the end, she was awesome!

The fight scenes were awesome! My only let down was Lex which I expected to dislike from the trailer, I really did not like Jesse Eisenberg's version of him, it was just cringe worthy and just funny when it was trying to be serious :rofl: In my opinion he ruined the film with his zainy take on Lex, which if he did not do the slightly twitchy psycho and was just normal would have been a whole lot better.

Overall I loved the film, it was dark! Darker than expected. It was sad, somber, scary and you felt the pain of the characters which was good! Overall a thumbs up from me 8/10! It lays the foundation for future DC films well and gives us a feel of what is to come for the Justice League films! Can't Wait!!:thumbs:

Looks like all the reviews on this movie enthusiast forum are quite positive. "Movie critics"?.....pfft. What are they critiquing anyway? Do yourself a favor and go watch a movie featuring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman all at the same time for the first time, grab a snack and enjoy yourselves. Its not that serious. I thogght it was pretty good and enjoyable. definitely better than MoS.

Apart from all the major Marvel fanboys, the critics are literally the only ones I've seen saying bad things about BvS so far (I have only seen comments on social media and this forum though FYI), so something tells me the critics weren't paid enough to praise the movie this time.

Snyder hasn't made a bad film yet IMO... Man of Steel is easily the best Superman film out there, 300 is a classic, Dawn of the Dead is one of the best remakes that I've seen, Sucker Punch is tons of fun and full of awesome! His weakest film would be Legend of the Guardians, but even that was still very enjoyable. I personally think Watchmen is his masterpiece though... not only is it one of my favourite comic book movies, but it's one of my favourite movies period.

No amount of negative reviews/ratings for this movie will make me any less excited to see it. Unfortunately, I probably won't get the chance to see it in the cinema, but will buy multiple editions once it's out on Blu-ray. :D

Whole heartedly agree dude!!

What?!? Go see it man!! You need to prioritise the important things in your life geez :thumbs:

Also I think someone needs to start a BvS thread for all the steelbook releases, like the Deadpool one, as this is looking like quite a lot already!! We need to keep track of this S*%T! :naughty:

I agree with your run down of his films but I really don't get the whole sucker punch thing. It's soemthing people should hate but instead they like it. It's a strange one to me but watchmen is definately his masterpiece and man of steel is easily the best superman film.

Although I'm a marvel fanboy in a way I'm not biased against DC, yeah there's some stupid characters in my opinion (Aquaman! F*cking Aquaman! don't worry I felt the same toward antman until I see the film) but I'm also a huge batman fan and he (aswel as spiderman for marvel) has some of the best villains in his world and also has the greatest comic book villain of all time.... The joker.

I take no notice of critics either and prefer reading (if I do) normal people's reviews but critics did write great things about x men, x men 2, days of future past, guardians, the avengers, the winter soldier, batman begins, the dark knight and a few more so maybe this isn't as great as it should be.

I'm not pointing fingers at anyone here but there are a lot of people on here that like stuff a bit over the top and these huge CGI films with no substance and we see it when a film is announced in steel and people are going mad for it before it's out and so and so.
I'm a lover of big action films and super hero films but sucker punch is the perfect example of film where people go nuts for but I don't really think they like the film properly, it's just some sexy women loads of action and some dodgy CGI in places plus the fighting and random Shiz in that film becomes a bit boring after a while. Just an example.
Another is pacific rim. Yeah the fighting, CGI and last 30 mins are epic but when you look at the film properly everyone is acting at their worst, there's a huge middle part where **** all happens and bores the hell out of you and you have a half arsed Elba, hunnam is trying too hard because it's it's first blockbuster and is the worst I've seen him act, Ron pearlman is taking the p*ss out of the film and the director (his mate) didn't even realise, the tw*t from eastenders was cast! That alone says it all And he had the worst Australian accent in history of film and it was a predictable film but the action was great. Also del toro can do better than that (but then again hellboy 2 wasn't great but the first was pretty much perfect). That's not enough for me now I'm getting a bit older. When I left the cinema I enjoyed it and then I started thinking about it plus my mates couldn't Belive I liked it so I watched it again and completely see how bad it is except the action.
Same as dark knight rises, Nolan messed that up so much but that it will take too much time for me to write where it went wrong but again parts are great and it took me a few watches for me to realise how bad it was.
Yeah I'm excited for certain films but if they are bad I'll admit it.

And I've already noticed manta lab are taking everyone for the ride before releasing their first steel which I knew would happen.

People saying it's the package to get before you've even seen their man of steel and what their quality is like. It's quite laughable but hey ho

Another thing is empire have given this 3 out of 5 which I noticed earlier. I found that strange as they clearly get paid by studios to ramp up reviews and when it's a superhero film the standard they usually give is 4 and sometimes 5.
Just a thought. Maybe they have finally decided to grow a backbone and not accept a cheque!

All the negatively around this from critics and some normal viewers still won't stop me from watching it and we all have different tastes but sometimes I wish the usual colprates can admit if they thought it was rubbish or over the top or over kill, or needed more story and less CGI etc

Also I really hope certain big film franchises stop putting too much in trailers like this one. Star Wars managed it, civil war is managing it to name a few.

I have stuck a pre order though in from hmv purley because I like batman, have the majority of super hero steels, have man of steel and I'm more interested in the uncut version of this which if true we will see straight away in home release.
I do still hope I get to see this before home release and if I don't think it's that great then I'll cancel and wait for a price drop but at the end of the day I'll still own it to add to the DC collection (plus did I mention batman?)

Nice critic man, I see where you're coming from and it's a very sound and logical place! I definitely agree with the trailer stuff which spoilt this film quite a bit! Personally I love big action and CGI films but that's not an accuse to do a rubbish story and script, not saying it is rubbish but it's not perfect and nothing can be perfect! There was sssoo much this film was trying to do and I think it did it all except it was probably too much. They could have cut Lex Luthor and Doomsday out of the film entirely and still have had a complete film! For me I enjoyed the CGI parts but mostly the emotional parts, which I was surprised there was a lot, a lot of the characters questioning they own ideas which was great!! I felt for both characters and couldn't pick a side! It made me quite sad actually like watching 2 people you love argue and just wishing they would find peace somehow.

I've had a bad day today and had to let some stream off so appologies to anyone thinking it's directed at them and for me going off in one lol

I love big superhero films too mate and CGI especially when both are done prefect.
Like you mention about story etc I think some films have got better at the story and with CGI and a bit like homer says "but the story's have finally caught up with the 3D" lol but some films I do find a bit tiresome.

I realised not too long ago basically I like to watch tv or a film in bed to go to sleep to, but I noticed I put these huge action CGI or superhero films on and put them on direct fighting scenes etc and then next thing it's morning lol so yeah I get a bit tired through them now but it's also about pacing. For instance man of steel I really enjoyed, was darker than usual, gritty, love the flash backs but the final fight was sooooo crazy and over the top I can easily Sleep to it. Yeah it's what we want in a film of that caliber to see an epic fight but I don't want that all the way through, luckily man of steel had a pretty good story and CGI was cool aswell as pacing it all out but the final fight was a bit OTT after seeing it the third or forth time.
Avatar is different and I know some don't like it but you couldnt create that world without the CGI and that to me was high end CGI or at least the highest at the time.
I always say this but there are some films out there that were out after Jurassic park and still can't reach that level of CGI. Actually a lot of films.

In the trailer for this the CGI does look good and action looks cool but some moments (like wonder woman turning up and doing that jump) look a little cheesey to me.

One thing I'm up for is the darkness of this film, DC should be dark plus I like the look of batman fighting style and other things.

But cheers for the bits you thought could be taken out. I get that.

It really sounds like I'm hating on this already when really I'm up for it but my main point is people reactions to certain films and the not accepting from some people that really deep down they don't like it and for this instance the example would be because they love batman or superman. Lol deep man

While I'm normally wary of critics and what they have to say about films, I'm getting a bit worried as this film seems to be getting a serious mauling across the board. I'm hearing very very few positive comments about it........

I have just been to see this and I really enjoyed it, Ben Afleck is great as Batman/ Bruce Wayne. There is a lot going on in the movie though.

It's quite a serious movie, although one critic I read, said there was no fun in the movie and could do with a joke or two, not sure what he was watching but I laughed a few times in the movie. It is quite serious and quite dark though.

I think if you liked Man of Steel you will like this movie. Also gotta say that Jesse Essenburg (not sure if I spelt that right) is awesome as Lex Luther.

Whole heartedly agree dude!!

@Noodles you have to go and see it buddy at the cinema. And if you could at Imax
It's at the top of my list, but so many things hold me back from going to the cinema... mainly the cost and the fact that I hate sitting with other people to watch films lol. I'd rather spend my money on a copy that I can watch countless times in the comfort of my own home with no idiots talking and/or crunching their popcorn in my ears. :sour::p

And breath. :p

Personally, I rate films by the amount of enjoyment I get out of them, not how perfect/imperfect they are. I found Sucker Punch to be a lot of fun... turn off your brain and enjoy the ride kind of fun! Same goes for Pacific Rim... although I didn't think it was as great as most people, I still enjoyed it for what it was. I do get where you're coming from anyway mate.

As for the critics... I never take much notice of what they say, because you can never be sure if they're being honest, or whether they've been paid, or whether they have something against the director/studio, or any other selection of reasons. Something definitely seems fishy in regards to their reviews on BvS though, especially when compared to reviews of fans... it doesn't add up. I tend to just go by what my friends say anyway, and even then I still go in to a film with a fairly open mind. At the end of the day, I like what I like! ;)

One thing that both annoys and amuses me in regards to BvS, is that the critics say it lacks humour... did they watch the same f****** trailers as I did? Because they all looked rather dark/gritty to me. Seriously, what were they expecting?! Comments like that just make me think they're all Marvel fanboys, or that they've received bigger cheques from Marvel than they did Warner Bros, so they're playing favourites lol.

I actually love that DC are basically the opposite of Marvel (who'd want two of the same thing anyway?). Marvel films are quite light-hearted and funny, whereas DC are dark and serious, and I'm a fan of both. Oh, and I agree that Aquaman does look crap on paper (as do some Marvel characters), but I reckon he's going to surprise people. :D

I planned to reply to the rest of your post mate, but I'm super tired right now and we'd only be going further off topic. Obviously not everyone's going to like the same films anyway, and that's cool! Some of my favourite conversations with friends are about our varying taste in movies... it can be pretty interesting and also funny at times. :)

One thing I will add is that there is no swag (posters, mugs, lanyards, etc.) at my local AMC theater where we have gone to many openings such The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, Guardians, etc. They told me they have nothing for BvS but lots for Captain America. Apparently Disney has the upper hand this time when it comes to marketing hype.

Saw it last night... and sadly I was a bit disappointed. I liked it, but not as much as I was hoping to.
I feel like they tried to do WAY too much. Would have been better if they had done a solo batman movie first, maybe another superman movie, and then this.

I dunno. I need more time to really think about it. But as it stands right now I have very mixed feeling about the film.
