should have converted bestbuys into futureshops, not the other way around

futureshop is associated with canadians, bestbuy is usa (yes i know they are the same company)

Well, time to acquire and hang on to ALL your Future Shop steelbooks because it was announced a short time ago that ALL Future Shops will be closing and some will be rebranded as Best Buy. What a WRONG way to go; it should be the reverse!!!

Very sad news indeed, they should have at least done this in an honorable and professional way, from what I read their employees did not know about this, so were out in the cold like the rest of us, what a cruel and senseless way to treat them, feel sorry for them.

I guess all this could potentially mean the steelbook releases slow down, may effect the quality too, I guess we will find out in time.

This is really just too bad. For me, Best Buy has always been my "go-to" electronics and media retailer. But that's because I'm in the US. Future Shop was very unique to Canada from everything I've seen regarding the brand. I associate Canadian steelbooks with Future Shop, and their stores held that association in the market for our community of collectors. Hopefully our steelbooks will be carried over to the BBY retail. Hope the transition goes smoothly @zerox39!

Well, all just have to wait and hold our breath, and hope they deliver. Best Buy management mucked it up again as it should have been the reverse to close the deserted best buys and keep the fab Future Shops. Now, IF, Best Buy Canada decided to continue with steelbooks, they will be no difference than ones in the states so there goes one exclusive steelbook venue - Boo Who

I'll have more details tomorrow. I'm not leaving the company, but I don't know my capacity. I can tell you that the SteelBook tradition will live on in some capacity it's just unknown what that is or how it will work.

Sad to see , being a big music fan and movie fan , I use to love going Hmv and Virgin megastores to search through all the latest CDs back in the day , times have changed
