London (United Kingdom - England) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 13:00:00 BST UTC+1 hour
Seoul (South Korea) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 21:00:00 KST UTC+9 hours
Vancouver (Canada - British Columbia) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 05:00:00 PDT UTC-7 hours
New York (U.S.A. - New York) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 08:00:00 EDT UTC-4 hours
Paris (France) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 14:00:00 CEST UTC+2 hours
Corresponding UTC (GMT) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 12:00:00

-1x copy per slipcover (2x copies for slipcover was sold out too fast like 7 min, That's why kimchi put more restriction for quarter slip release)
-5x copies per lenticular

here is technical problem solved so far

after you pay via paypal, you will automatically return to main page of kimchidvd and you can go to order page to check if your order is completed.

(previous kimchi, does not provide automatic payment completed by paypal, only kimchi handle one by one to complete order by manually matched with paypal transaction. it's kind of big burden and many problem happened)

and another announcement for shipping

Small packet is removed, K-packet applied for all of item sold in kimchidvd
K-packet is slightly expensive than small packet but there is lots of benefits

- Printed slip with tracking number
- End-to-End tracking with delivery confirmation (No lost shipment)
- Reasonable cost than EMS
- generally takes 5-15 days (EMS: 5-10 days, Small packet 15 -35 days)

but some member are curious why kimchidvd changed shipping method

From T2 kimchi release, Kimchi handled more than 1,000 box to ship out to post office KR, this is a big volume of post office KR to handle only for one store.

so post office does not allow kimchi to accept small packet any more :(
and asked kimchi to change K-packet rather than small packet due to too many package in one or two day.

after changed of k-packet, pack & shipping process is much more faster than small packet and very reliable shipping method in terms of tracking.

even now, some of member did not received T2 kimchi after shipping process done at 26th June because no tracking available for small packet.

1 or 2 steelbook for shipping charge between small packet & k-packet is only difference around 2$

please kindly understand kr post office policy for massive volume of shipment like over 1,000 boxes and more powerful tracking for lost shipment protection.

Thanks

Guys, I gotta be honest with you. This is one title that I feel will do very serious harm to the original Jp version. The JP version never came sealed, there in lies the problem. Anyone can open this new Korean version, and claim it is the Jp version. If this new version is opened, there is no distinction between the 2. Without any identifying stickers or slips, the original can take a very large dip in price. Think about it, would you risk paying grail like prices for a steel, if there is a good chance that it is an opened korean version, instead of the original Jp version.

If you have this title, I strongly suggest you let yourself be heard about the reprinting of this title. When sealed, it can easily be differentiated from the Jp version due to stickers and slips. Anyone can open this, and claim it is the Jp version, which never came sealed or with any stickers. I do not have this steel, so it doesn't matter to me either way. But I swear, if this artwork is exactly the same as the Jp version, it will be a disaster to all the people who paid grail like prices for it. You've been warned.

But this is different. Embossed and debossed.

Thats good then. Wait a minute maybe not so good, for the original anyways. Cool slip, desirable stickers, embossed, debossed, factory sealed. All this it has. While the original has none of the above. It will be very interesting to see what happens.

I cannot believe how many people here have not heard of Le Grande Bleu. Are you people not into movies at all? Luc Besson is a very well known director and this is one of his early movies that got his name on the map. It was released here in the States as "The Big Blue". It's reasonably well-known and I a lot of my friends were watching it when it first came out on VHS / Laserdisc.

I do agree though that it is being rereleased because of how highly-sought-after the Japanese version is. Lame! Nonetheless I will be buying it.... no-brainer!

Agree I love this film. Its also called the big blue here in UK.

I was hoping for a poor release as my bank balance is already at a low but now its this film its a must buy.

Great work as always Choi & i thank you but my bank balance doesn't lol

Hold on a second, is tgis the Luc Besson film with Jean Reno?

Oh...I'm disappointed and excited...I can't collect my thoughts on this yet...

I'm the same. Not really sure what to make of this!

I can understand the logic behind T2 but this, I'm not so sure.

2000 copies for a film most people haven't even seen seems a bit much as well.

My guess is that the Jpn will still be more valuable given its relative rarity. The Jpn J card is going to be important.

This is the new face of steelbook collecting folks: The new breed of retailers offering exclusives are now VERY clued in to what collectors want in their steelbooks (largely thanks to forums like this one), and so expect to see more and more re-releases from the likes of Zavvi, Kimchidvd and others that feature embossing/debossing, numbering, full slips or improved features in some way over the original. There are no sacred cows out there, the only thing standing in the way of a title being reissued would be the cost of a licence to distribute it (not too expensive, I'd imagine, in the case of Le Grand Bleu).

For me this vindicates a decision I made a little while ago, which is to dispose of many rare editions that I have and keep only the *best* steelbook version of any given title rather than the rarest. The days of buying steel book rarities doesn't work for me when the re-releases are as good if not better than the originals. And especially when values are so fragile anyway thanks to reissues.

I've always really liked Le Grand Bleu since seeing a 70mm print of it in IMAX when it came out, so I'll definitely be getting this release. At £30 and with extra features it makes a far more attractive purchase than the Japanese version did.

I still say the safest place to be is the golden age of German steels. The blu banners with the golden and bronze tints. Hellboy 2, Wanted, Death Race. I don't see anything getting better than those. I still haven't seen anything come close to those in the last 2 years. To expensive to make. I actually expect those 3 to hit much higher prices after this year is over. The economy is booming now and expected to do so over the next 3 years min. Just watch for $8 per gallon milk. Its coming.

Not relevant for this thread, but Death Race (though I love the steel) hit almost rock-bottom prices last weekend for the past 1 year. $70. But Chip, you are right, it is a momentary dip in prices, it will go up again.

What's next.....Moulin Rouge....Romeo & Juliet...?

To go briefly O/T, I think the chances of Moulin Rouge getting a re-release in steelbook form are pretty high. It has a huge cult following and has always sold very well on DVD, so it would make a no-brainer choice for someone like Zavvi. Only a matter of time on that one, I reckon.

That is a good point - which steels are now safe?

Like many have pointed out before, a little patience and these rare steels will come your way at some point. No need to pay megabucks for any rare title anymore as chances are it will see another release down the road. Will be interesting to see how many of the JP ones come up now with news of this Kimchi exclusive. Quite honestly the JP one has been outdone by this and I don't see it maintaining its high value. Potentially 1K-2K collectors will be off the market for this release depending on order limitations. What's next.....Moulin Rouge....Romeo & Juliet...:ohno: :oohyeah:

All I know is that with the first 2 exclusives, Kimchi has knocked it out of the park. 2 grails I will NEVER look to acquire the originals for and quite honestly never did. No need to make a mortgage payment for a steel ever again folks.

Yes, nothing is safe, but there is still a vein in some of us (me included) who still takes pride in collecting the original releases. This is with a long-term view, and from a purist collecting viewpoint, not to make a quick buck in 6-9 months, and it is truly satisfying, if I make say so, to possess a collection of the original rare grails. Those of you out there who does possess such a collection know who you are, and will probably understand what I am trying to say here. If I may use a poor analogy, that is the Indiana Jones in me.

To take it one step further, I would want to have an LGB Jpn in my collection because it is rare and very few people have it. LGB Korea? What is the point of having that in the collection if it is not rare? It aint that good looking. LOL!
