I'm really curious to see the finish they put on this. I imagine it will be full gloss, but I think it'd look outstanding matte with the flames and details spot glossed. Flames just look fantastic when glossed either way--especially against a black background.

In lieu of actual shots from PA, here's a shot of a spot glossed steel (Hercules) and a fully glossed steel (Drag me to Hell):

Can't wait to see what PA ultimately churns out.

When spot gloss is done well
It's one of the best finishes or at least mine but the matte has to be right and a decent proportion of gloss (not Just one little thing) and your right like your example things like flames or blood splatter on a black matte and sometimes black zero varnish matte (like the zavvi Rambo - the first steel) are amazing
But I do love a full gloss too

This would look great full gloss or a very well done black matte varnish with spot gloss flames/ smoke and a embossed spot glossed title or equally debossed spot gloss title which plain seem to be a fan of anyway.
(Title might be too thin to deboss but thin titles like into the woods for example look great embossed. Can't think of any debossed titles that thin)
Anyway I can't wait to see how this turns out

Said it once and I'll say it again. Easily the best art for this film
