For me personally gloss is all about making the colours pop not the shine itself. Worlds end looks great with gloss as the colours look vibrant. This doesn't look bad with matte in my opinion is the red is still very vibrant

It doesn't look vibrant to me. The black looks a bit grey ish and the red doesn't look bright or inky deep. It kind of reminds me of when ink is running low on a home printer and the colours start look washed out.

Zavvi had such a good opportunity here with this one. But when the first images we're released on how the steel would look I held judgment. Obviously the image was straight from the amaray version so it looked pretty lazy to me but seeing how it looks now overall I'm glad I cancelled. Even at 9.99 not sure I would buy it at that price.

Am I wrong in saying this is the first piece of debossing from Zavvi in a while. I can't seem to recall the last time we got a debossed stellbook from them. I'm glad they don't feel everything should be embossed :scat:

the back of this steel is a missed opportunity. would have made up for the underwhelming front. oh well. still a classic film, in a steelbook. cant complain

I'm sorry but Zavvi really dropped the ball on this one. A huge opportunity missed. I would have debossed the entire frame where it switches from black to red (like rocketeer). then Embossed the middle frame where Jack is, and then debossed Jack and then embossed his eyes. (Why not :) )

A glossy finish WAS required on this.

So therefore, the original is STILL the best imho.

Comparsion pics. I forgot how gorgeous this steelbook was  The colours! The purples, the vibrant yellow and the swirls.

What happened Disney??? DO you really hate steelbook that much these days??? Please, go back to this.

What a difference Ricster. The glossy finish on the original is stunning. It completely blows this latest effort out of the water, no question.

I like what they did with the debossing on this, but compared to the original art, this art doesn't stack up.
