Hmmmm. I was hoping that it might be a slipcover. Not so sure any more...

I'm trying to recall the last Universal release that had one, though....so I can feel more secure in the fact that it actually might be one.

I don't think it's too bad really. The main title is in English. At least it doesn't say Das Ding. Now that I ordered the French edition I'm not sure if I'm still going to get this.

I mean I like that black face. I wonder if it will be a glossy or matte black finish?

i dont think this will be a slipcover now, it just doesent look clean anymore. the front of the french one is just the title perfect, i think this may have printed text back aswell.

happy days as play.com have on there site the thing 1982 carpenters classic listed as a steelbook with pictures on the inside. This is part of 100 years of universal, other titles with a 28th may release date are the incredible hulk, hellboy 2, kick-ass, casino, hulk and another classic in the same mould as the thing is an american werewolf in london and best of all the price 9.99 these are all blu-ray. The other films in this collection are waiting for a release day are carlitos way, hot fuzz,shaun of the dead, pich black and children of men. Another classic with a 4th june release is return of the living dead, hope this helps you all have fun.....
