Everything Blu Facebook

Release Schedule (SUBJECT TO APPROVALS!) - We would like to let you know our direction over the next few releases and as stated above, these are subject to approvals. We are taking on board suggestions of movies without steelbook releases but we need some sort of foot in the market before doing so. However, some of those titles have already been brought up in a meeting today, so hopefully we can progress further with those soon.

This schedule is planned to have full Exclusive SteelBook designs (Not just flipped artwork exclusivity). All would feature the same setup as Shaun of the Dead; Full Slip, Lenticular & Blu Box.

Casino EE 002
Hot Fuzz EE 003
Oblivion EE 004
The Worlds End 005

Thank you to everyone supporting us, please let us know you thoughts on the titles above!!

Hello,

Some great feedback from the new design.

In general, how do people feel about the borders that come with embossing? So some people here have said about the badge at the back possibly being embossed, if we still went with debossing on the front, there would be a borderless front with a bordered back.

What's peoples thoughts on that? If the back has a border, the front must match (embossed front too) or the two can be different?

Thanks
EverythingBlu
Personally I prefer it when the border has reason ie its built ito the artwork, such as Zavvi's Dr Strange or Play.com's Iron Man 1 (latter had a red border with image inthe debossed bit-stunner, even now IMO)

Otherwise, am fairly indifferant too them and dont mind having them or not.
But love when they are used right to enhance the artwork.

Yeah, I get that, it's just personal preference - I liked the contrast between hard edged Met officer on the front and rural beat bobby on the back
yeah I get that - and I do like the idea of one character on the front, another on the rear...but this movie felt more like a buddy movie than the others which were Pegg centric. So glad to see both sharing the front (for this movie it works)

Personally, I think the steelbook needs to match the Sean of the Dead in every way possible (and then the same again for World's End). So if there is no debossing or embossing on the back of Sean of the Dead then there SHOULDN'T be on this.

THE CORNETTO TRILOGY STEELBOOKS NEED TO LOOK LIKE A SET** AND THIS WON'T BE THE CASE IF THEY'RE TREATED DIFFERENTLY

Bordering on the back would ruin it. i have over 200 steelbooks and none of them have a border on the back.

**
Like Star Wars or India Jones the Harry Potter Steekbooks or even like the Mummy Steelbooks you are releasing

Edit: Yep, the image above proves back borders are tacky. Keep the cornetto trilogy back border free

I disagree with this, EB have said in the past that with SotD being their first release they had no real creative control over the steelbook itself. I don't think their future releases, where they can be more creative, should be hampered by something that was out of their control.

I think any kind of embossing/debossing that they come up with for the badge on the back would look much better then just a flat gloss finish on it.

Hello,

We think the SteelBooks still having their own finishes will still sit well together. This is more a series of movies rather than a natural trilogy, so it's about having the balance of being a set but each still holding their own.

We think all three will look great together, especially the Blu Box editions.

Thanks,
EverythingBlu

The image you depicted is strategic debossing like I mentioned above. The text isn't embossed, it's surroundings are debossed hence the lack of border. I definitely think that's the way to go with this release. Deboss the black circle but leave the letters as they stand

Hello,

Yep, this is how we like to use debossing personally.

Thanks
EverythingBlu

Yes go with that please, I prefer this over bordered steel.

This is roughly where things would fall with standard embossing borders:

Probably the best way to take advantage of the artwork on this steelbook without borders is to:
- Have a de-bossed title in the style of BAD BOYS 2

- Embossed badge on the back in the style of GANG RELATED

Hello,

Yep, this is our thinking for embossing. If debossed, just the black area within the centre around the HF. All things not confirmed yet but plenty of info to go on, thank you to all.

We won't be moving things around again, we would go on forever trying to please everyone lol. We are happy with what we now have and lets hope we can get it approved.

Thanks again

"Our preferred finish will now be full gloss with a debossed title" leading me to ask the obvious question "Flat badge on the back?"

If WORLD'S END, the last in the trilogy, is different to the previous steelbook from Nov 2013 . . . more than likely judging by the fact that the first two are different to the originals . . . here's hoping that EB will at some point package the 3 Cornetto steelbooks (without slipcases) in a nicely decorated box in the same way as they've done with the three MUMMY steelbooks.

The "Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy" past and present (U.K.) :-

Full gloss w/ de-bossed title (February 2013)

Zero finish w/ de-bossed title (May 2017)

Not as bright as SHAUN but a cooler steelbook with the boys in Ray Bans and with the toothpicks Spaghetti Western / "Lethal Weapon" style.
Full gloss. No 'bossing (February 2013)

Full gloss w/ de-bossed title (release date TBC)

Full gloss. No 'bossing. Great colours and artwork and my favourite of the three (November 2013)

Front of new one ?

As we all know the trilogy is commonly known as THE THREE FLAVOURS CORNETTO TRILOGY so how's about a different Cornetto flavour colour for EBlu's Bluboxes.
. . . so, on that theme and continuing from the "flavour" we've already had:-
(1) SHAUN OF THE DEAD Cornetto Flavour = STRAWBERRY ------------------------------------------------------------------- (2) HOT FUZZ Cornetto Flavour = BLACK BLUEBERRY

-----------------------------------------------------------------------(3) WORLD'S END Cornetto Flavour = BUTTERSCOTCH (Back of old steelbook = front of new steelbook ???)
Blubox really should be a blue box for HOT FUZZ /

N.B. Just a bit of fun . . . not to be taken seriously . . . not designed to upset anyone etc.

I get the impression that's kind of what EB are going for anyway. As for your suggested colours/flavours, it'd probably make more sense for them to just stick with the official ones from each film.

Surprised you didn't check up on it already, but to quote Wikipedia...

Each film in the trilogy is connected to a specific Cornetto flavour appearing in each film. Shaun of the Dead features a strawberry-flavoured Cornetto, which signifies the film's bloody and gory elements, Hot Fuzz includes the blue original Cornetto, to signify the police element to the film, and The World's End features the green mint chocolate chip flavour (though only shown by a wrapper caught in the wind) representing "little green men" and science fiction.According to Wright, Wall's, manufacturer of the Cornetto, were "very pleased with the namecheck".

I'd hate to surprise you and, yes, I did check (obviously). . . and did consider the colours before posting but at the same time I also considered which Blubox colours would go well with the already revealed and other two TBC/TBA steelbooks.
1) STRAWBERRY red for the SHAUN Blubox (obviously) . . . but not so much for the "blood 'n' gore" in the film, more for the strawberry colour of the steelbook.itself.
2) BLUEBERRY for the FUZZ steelbook (obviously) . . . to match the blue black of the TBC steelbook design/colouring.
3) BUTTERSCOTCH for WORLD'S END (less obviously) . . . picking up on the yellows and oranges in the artwork IF they use the back image of the first edition as the front of the second edition.

Original Cornetto MINT colour unsuitable for a WORLD'S END Blubox as if won't match the steelbook (if they go with the obvious (IMO) artwork choice for the new one).

Of course, it's another matter if they create completely new green artwork for the WE steelbook then, yes, a green Blubox would suit admirably. As long as they do NOT use this woeful design for the steelbook (LOL):-
