*PLEASE NOTE: This list is a 'guide' only and compiled based on a variety of factors including community 'feedback' and 'suggestions'. Steelbook collecting is HIGHLY SPECULATIVE, and different collectors have different ideas of 'rarity', 'limited', 'sought after', and related terms-all of which may change at the drop of a hat with re-releases, or new info.

Please visit the Steelbook forum, if you have more detailed questions regarding specific titles, and their 'current' status, as this list is 'dynamic' and changes over time. *

I posted this in another forum before but I prefer this one, so I try again here. This is an ongoing list that combines a variety of factors that may contribute to the scarcity or rarity of these Steelbooks.-Sirjump

We started off with a "ranked" list, but as many folks may rank items differently, a general "resource" list of harder to find Steelbooks/Rare titles helps the community more. Feel free to comment so we can consider adding or subtract. -Digitalbabe

:scat:Keep sharing your thoughts & together we can help the list evolve!:)

Possible criteria as to what makes a steelbook rare/hard to find:

* General interest in movie
* Availability at retailer & exclusivity
* Print run
* Country of origin & region code
* Steelcase design
* (Initial) price
* Individually numbered items
* Print Errors
* Hype
* Price on 3rd party marketplaces

It was certainly hard to get hold of before JSDVD resold a load - do we know how many was released? (not the original release)

It wasn't like the the batman white 1st and 2nd releases where you could distinguish the difference. The recent wave of salt Taiwan are exactly the same as the one that were released a while back. So they are all original copies JSdvd was just holding back.

Who is this Socrates guy everyone keeps talking about?

He's a seller on ebay that has gained fans on this forum for some obscure reason. Check the omg the prices are high on ebay thread his name pops up everywhere.:hilarious:

Thats good news to those that got copies but I'd still like to know if anyone knows the number of copies they held back ;)

What about:

Thor 3D (Dutch release - MediaMarkt exclusive)
Captain America 3D (Dutch release - MediaMarkt exclusive)

They're near impossible to find nowadays and one of the few 3D-releases.

I don't see those making the list before Thor JP and KR or captain America (what is it, TW?)

If the print run figure is correct it will definitely become rare. However, because so many people grabbed copies from the restock and because they're very easy (if expensive!) to buy on eBay right now, it might be a little early to think of it as rare. Time will tell... ;)

That's a bit of a relief, maybe someday it might make it to this list. Thanks for the info by the way :scat:. Much appreciated!

He's a seller on eBay who just needs an excuse for charging high prices, though none of them are true :hilarious:

I've seen many more of those popping up than the Dutch ones though!
I agree. Everyone could order these at Amazon.co.jp. But these were all Media Markt exclusives and all low stock. Besides not every Media Markt did get these steelbooks. Especially Thor.

And Thor was a 3D steelbook too.

All 4 Thors should be in the rare list. Jpn, Kr, NZ and FNAC.

If HMV shuts the Doors !! '

then that will be Number 1 within a few months !!

already sells for 100 GBP's man !!

Rare, desirable , Hard to find , Valuable are a lot of different things ??

like feckin Gladiator TW :rolleyes: I see 2 copies on here , both Open !!

the THOR steel book is a Gem in it own right ??

beats me !!

Thor HMV will be valuable? :drool:

Fact is : it already is :ohno: and that was Long before all this receivership & administrators were called in :(

HMV are just nice looking steelz & in English !! its a World Wide Name for thier Stores , I know we dont have any , but CH, JP, and SG have 1 ??

So, If the worst was to happen EEK!

You can bet your Botty that any steel from HMV that is already a tad expensive or Rare is gonna go through the Roof !!

Dont compare this to Play.com's steelz !!

they are in a different Ball Park to HMV desirability !!

bothe have Fanboys , and some play titles are allready up to $200 sweats a Pop !! , so ttitles like T.Sal & Shogun Assassin , Metropolis are gonna go Skitzo !!

just wait and see ;)

And on the Flip side hopefully German steelz will pick up some pace :)
