*PLEASE NOTE: This list is a 'guide' only and compiled based on a variety of factors including community 'feedback' and 'suggestions'. Steelbook collecting is HIGHLY SPECULATIVE, and different collectors have different ideas of 'rarity', 'limited', 'sought after', and related terms-all of which may change at the drop of a hat with re-releases, or new info.

Please visit the Steelbook forum, if you have more detailed questions regarding specific titles, and their 'current' status, as this list is 'dynamic' and changes over time. *

I posted this in another forum before but I prefer this one, so I try again here. This is an ongoing list that combines a variety of factors that may contribute to the scarcity or rarity of these Steelbooks.-Sirjump

We started off with a "ranked" list, but as many folks may rank items differently, a general "resource" list of harder to find Steelbooks/Rare titles helps the community more. Feel free to comment so we can consider adding or subtract. -Digitalbabe

:scat:Keep sharing your thoughts & together we can help the list evolve!:)

Possible criteria as to what makes a steelbook rare/hard to find:

* General interest in movie
* Availability at retailer & exclusivity
* Print run
* Country of origin & region code
* Steelcase design
* (Initial) price
* Individually numbered items
* Print Errors
* Hype
* Price on 3rd party marketplaces

was wondering why all these Fools were weighing thier sealed copies for :hilarious:

So , Once again , we reach this "Holy CruDD " its opened , so its worth Jack Rabbit now EEK!

Or , why are these Opened copies bringing in the Big Bucks , compared to thier lesser sealed counter parts ??

1 rule when it suits them :rolleyes:

Can anyone post a pic of their sealed Pans Labyrinth German please - I think I have bought a reseal that was described as factory sealed

My copies are factory sealed with booklet.

see , here we go again , !! same crap as LGB !!!

some sealed !! some Open !!

I think some one does this just to be a smart A$$ :hilarious:

I been told from reliable Asian members that LTBF-with Booklet came Open !!

maybe yours were sealed by the previous owner/s Prodigy ???

As you never got them Via the GB :naughty:

And most of the first 500 went to BluFans members & only a few went else where ??

FROM the Group Buy !!! ~ OPEN is with Booklet ;) https://www.hidefninja.com/forums/showpost.php?p=267316&postcount=109

Got my copies from people that participated in the GB. Plus im pretty sure the members i got these copies from wouldnt seal them if they didnt come sealed. One has a trade score of 385 positive i dont see why he would do such a thing.

I thought we been through this before? They came unsealed, but for purposes of the HDN GB, they were arranged to be sealed, at the request of HDN GB participants. Those that remain in China or sold directly by blufans were unsealed. You can ask homeboxoffice, he had / has a first 500 for sale, and it is opened, as was originally issued. You can still find this unsealed one on China forums, coz they were issued unsealed.

So Top Cat/Prodigy, both are you are right! :scat:

How about adding these :

Thor New Zealand / Korea / Japan
Gran Torino Fnac
Terminator Virgin
Clash of the titans Fnac
Shutter Island Virgin
Green Zone Thailand
Sucker Punch Fnac

Yep !!

Actually, a few guys got THOR (KR) and Gran Torino poked its head a few times , but the rest are illusive to say the least !!

How about SALT (TAIWAN STEELBOOK)? It only had a limited print run of 800 copies and is supposed to be the most expensive Salt Steelbook out there. The highest price I saw for it on eBay was $450 EEK!!

Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Salt-All-3-...?pt=US_DVD_HD_DVD_Blu_ray&hash=item4abfcecfdf

Now do you think it should be a part of this list? :naughty:

It either got re-printed or additional stock was found recently as this was available at cost about a month ago!

Everytime someone mentions Socrates' listings your doing exactly what he wants us to do. Your advertising his link and ebay listings. Everyone knows what his prices go for so stop advertising his ebay sales!

The list generally takes little account of low-print-run Asian steels. There are plenty of titles like 'Salt' that have been issued with runs of 800, 500 or even 200 that don't get a mention on here. Ultimately lists like this one are very subjective and far from exhaustive, so it's best to do your own research and draw your own conclusions regarding scarcity.

I'm pretty sure that it was not reprinted because I myself ordered a piece from JSDVD last month when it was available for some time. It must have been some stock from those 800 pieces that might have been left out for some reason and didn't get sold. But I would sure like to know the actual reason, if some insider can tell us ;).

socrates-comics - no one takes his prices seriously pal, he over inflates prices bigtime

You're absolutely correct. That link was just to give an idea of the highest price being charged for this steel. But again, there's not a single Salt Taiwan steel which is not going for over $100.

Also, I thought I owned a rare steelbook. But after reading everyone's comments, I have started thinking otherwise. Does that mean it is not a rare steelbook :(? Please let me know....

I'm sorry, my bad... I really had no such intention of promoting his sales as I'm of the same thought process as you :thumbs:. Will keep that in mind in future.

If the print run figure is correct it will definitely become rare. However, because so many people grabbed copies from the restock and because they're very easy (if expensive!) to buy on eBay right now, it might be a little early to think of it as rare. Time will tell... ;)

Last time i seen salt taiwan for bid was on ebay it sold for $80. I wouldnt even pay that since it was released on JSDVD at cost and still didnt get a copy. Too bad JSDVD couldnt acquire more copies of Capt. America, Gladiator and Terminator Taiwan. That would of been a dream in steel heaven. Beside there are alot of other titles that have been mentioned that deserves to be on this list before salt tw.
