Just got back from watching this.....first things first, why oh why do people insist on going to the movies if all they are going to do is talk & play with their phones? In the end I had to turn around and tell them to 'shut the f**k up' to which they then kindly did!

Now onto the movie........holy ****! What an amazing movie. Every time you think here we go it just teases you more. Some really tense moments & some where you want to just get up and clap and cheer. Will definitely be watching this again. 10/10

This was good, but I was a bit underwhelmed. I give it 7/10. Not much actual Godzilla. Too much buildup, not enough delivery. The climax moment is freakin' awesome, and there are some great moments, but I guess I just didn't enjoy it like everyone else. I think Smaug could take Godzilla. ;)

I'm gonna keep this simple because I plan to write a Final Thoughts column for the HDN homepage. Anyway, here's my thoughts on the film...

Bad Godzilla! Don't swear! (sorry, peeps... it's hard to control a god) ;)

Best film review I've ever seen. :flash::shots:

i have to go one step further (bash me all you want) but this movie was so bad that mid way through i was wondering when it'll end...

the beginning was awesome, great build up and suspense (great acting by cranston)but then it went full blown military ops, bad acting by the lead...not much of godzilla, not much of a point to anything. So many things were very cliche. Plot holes up the wazoo (like the nuke in the end) The movie should be re-named battle San Francisco. I would love to hear the other side of this argument and see why people liked it

You have to be a Godzilla fanatic to understand (like me). Have you ever seen Godzilla’s Revenge (All Monsters Attack) (1969)? For the love of God. Don't!

Watching it tomorrow, my brother went yesterday, he said it was just OK.
However, he thought Gravity was just OK, which I loved

Personally I think die hard fans will love it & most will just find it ok. The only thing that ruined it for me were all the YouTube clips prior to this. I prefer teaser trailers & then a couple of full trailers beforehand.

I only watched one clip and avoided the rest. I wanted there to be some surprises leftover while watching it. I'm going to see it again tonight! :D

Oh, and this awesome Godzilla haul just arrived at my door...

heres my more detailed review since i have had more time to let it soak. Im not a die hard fan, always been interested but my review is from the stand point of an ordinary movie goer with no prior knowledge of the mythology

pros:
1.brian cranston was amazing (his death was boring) i would liked it if he was main lead and his son died instead. That to me would've made the story way more emotional
2.cinematography was breath taking. Just gorgeous
3. the design of godzilla was epic (his roar, and his look were top notch) Just wish we saw a bit more

cons:
1.music was meh (didn't set the tone like pacific rim or any of zimmers scores)
2. godzilla was an after thought(This is my main concern) They talked about him in the beginning but that was it. Why was he going after the parasites to begin with ? where was he for the last 50 years ? i wanted to know more about godzilla since the movie is named after him. We got more story about the parasites and everyone else
3. The main lead was terrible. He had the same expressions through out the movie (i didnt feel any emotional connections to his character)
4. the fight scenes between godzilla and the parasites were cool but a bit grounded. I would've liked to see a bit more than just giant monsters fighting hand to hand
5. plot holes and illogical story about: radiation, fall out and blast radius (the mini nuke at the end, was still a nuke ! the damn helicopter was so close but nothing happened)
6. every time the parasites bit in one of those nukes, nothing happened ! its a bomb for christ sake lol
7. since the parasites feed off radiation, why was there no fall out in their wake ?
8. The whole military ops was a bit much and over done and not that spectacular to be honest
